Today I beat a unit of Horrors by 12 (combat res), and my opponent rolled a 4 on his break test. At which point,.. we weren't sure how it worked. Was he leadership 0 at that point and failed by 4? We played it this way after calling someone.
Or was he leadership, -5 and failed by 9?
At one point we wondered if the snake eyes pass would mean he only failed by 2.
Thanks!
edit: NEVERMIND!!!!!
Found it in the FAQ
A. No. Remember that combat resolution adds to the dice roll,
rather than being subtracted from Leadership.

Re: Daemonic Instability
Every Daemon army I've faced has the Battle Standard Bearer with that silly all nearby units are always Stubborn banner, which annoys me.
In the case of non-Steadfast/Stubborn Daemon units, they take a break test like normal, but the amount they over rolled their modified break test by is how many more wounds they suffer from Daemonic Instability. Note that the minimum Leadership you can be reduced to for said test is Insane Courage (i.e. 2).

Well, my ideas for the next book turned out to be a bust.
But it was still fun working on something of this scale.

Then how does it? Doesn't really help to refute what I say and then not say how it does work.unicorn wrote:No. This is not how it works.

The very 1st post give you the answer. As well as the GW FAQ.Shandrakor wrote:Then how does it? Doesn't really help to refute what I say and then not say how it does work.
Anyway...
GW FAQ wrote:Q. Is the maximum number of wounds that can be inflicted by a failed Instability test limited to 10 (a roll of ‘12’ compared to a Leadership 2)? (p30)
A. No. Remember that combat resolution adds to the dice roll, rather than being subtracted from Leadership.

Re: Daemonic Instability
So then you don't take a break test as normal, you just roll 2d6 + combat result - leadership is how many wounds they take from Instability?

Re: Daemonic Instability
... what happened to my "close this post" comment regarding the mods? Surprised people are commenting.
anywho, daemon player rolls (he got a 4 on this case) and you add the combat res difference (in this case he lost by 12) giving us 16, then subtract off the LD (7) to get 9 wounds.
