Im starting to work on the GladeRider tactics section 3... ITs a break down even more so, more on characters full articles on units and most uses, The builds of armys and Even starter army lists.

If you'd like me to Writing daily tactic breakdowns and Small Combos, i can do that. Im not so great with fluff. Tactics is my game friends....

Tell me if you need me , otherwise, ill just update the Section 2 when im done...

I'll send in my HE tactics article (I'm working on a WE one, but the HE one will be finished sooner). I've got some fluff sitting around somewhere too. I'll send that as well.
And as for my time? Considering I spend an inurdanate amount of time thinking about it, it wont be hard to write about it for an hour a day. (Or more, depending on what classes I have in school)

Shadowlance, heading an initiative is far heavier than you might see. I know you've been a part of the CoP ini on D.net for quite some time, but I don't think you've really grasped how hard work it is for Caroline and the other ini leaders.
Well I am willing to make the commitment. If there is someone else you feel is better qualified then go ahead and use them. My realy world commitments mean that I can't get online everyday, so somebody who can might be the best choice. Just keep my name is reserve and i'll be happy to do it if you can find no one else you think would be better for the position.

I'll have that writing sample in just as soon as i've purchased and read the Wood Elves book. So expect it by the end of the week.

Several questions before I rush into this headlong without thought:

1) How much is expected of us? And how often?
What I mean is, will I have to write a 10 page tactica on a new subject every 2 weeks? Or will I have to write a couple of paragraphs about corsairs/whatever and how to beat them once a month?

2) What level of expertise do u expect?
Do I have to write about how I paint my dryads which I think works for me and looks quite well? Or do I have to do a heavy metal masterclass style article with perfect detail?

3) Do u want pictures?
This one explains itself.

4) Battle reports:
Do u want stories using what happens in the battle as a base or a turn by turn layout with numbers and dice rolls?

5) Who will we be working under?
No, its not Sydney...
Nope, not Melbourne either...
Come on, u can do it...

I'll try to answer these..

1)not sure yet.

2)we'D like both beginners and advanced articles, so that a big number of ppl enjoys reading it.

3) Yes. But it depends on what article you write. For painting articles, images are quite essential, though for fluff you don't really need them.

4)Stories are OK, but those count in the category "fluff". Just a turn-based report (like WD battlereports) are what I'D call battlereports. you don't need to say what the dicerols are, but I'd just note how many kills they did, except for it was an exceptional roll (goblins who stand due to snakeeyes. Just do what you prefer though.

5)Not sure yet... we'll decide this later today, when nagathi has some time.

Since I'm likely to be spending what little spare time I have in the near future writing WE fluff anyway (and since my advance-ordered army book has finally arrived  ), I might as well contribute. As long as it's understood it will be very much 'as and when'.

Nag's not joking. If you're not 100% certain you will have sufficient free time and energy to manage a team of writers then I'm 100% certain you won't.
Whenever an article is not done, they get to whip it together in the matter of a few hours.

Yes - I want a Mag ! :)

No - I won't have this much time ... :(

I might help by :

- Doing an Article on how to scratch-Build a Treeman :)
(Working on it already)
- I'd do a Battle Rep or two, Painted Minis and DigiCam at hand, but I don't play all that often so the time depends on the chance for the gaming ...

Tips I'd do :
- Nag Inspector until he does a ongoing Wood Elf Comic for us
(There were some nice drawings on the Waystone ...)
- Think about doing it only bi-monthly
Really - The Woodies are just released and we all want to paint our Minis and play. It would be hard to do this if you make a monthly mag !

That's it for now ...

Cheers !

Puppyblue wrote:1) How much is expected of us? And how often?
An article should not be more than 6 pages in MS Word (or else the reader will be bored). Better split it in two if it's long. Depending on the writers, we'll try to give out an issue each month, meaning at least one article each month from all writers.
2) What level of expertise do u expect?
The more expert writers you are, the better quality article you'll produce. The painting skills are not as important (but for P&M you need to be quite good or else you won't earn credits from the readers). Articles can be about how you painted the Golden Daemon winning model (GeOrc at D.net has written a few of those), or a simple "How to get your Dryads ready for battle asap while still looking good".
3) Do u want pictures?
As many as it is legally possible. More images mean a better basis for the lay out guys to choose the best images from. This goes for all types of articles. Images can always break the boring flow of a tactica, to give the reader some time to reflect what he's reading.
4) Battle reports:
Do u want stories using what happens in the battle as a base or a turn by turn layout with numbers and dice rolls?
Free of choice. It's of the author's discretion. Both kinds are good. However, try to have some diagrams on how the battle field looks like after each turn. A simple MS Paint image, copied to 6 with unit movements is sufficient.
5) Who will we be working under?
Me, probably.

So far, we have the following people interested in helping out:
  • Nagathi
  • DeathJester
  • the doctor
  • Kul
  • branchwraith
  • Alithwar
  • warmaster
  • Eltharon
  • Shadowlance
  • Eldacar
  • Uber_Kosh
  • GladeRider
  • Shadowspite
  • Soteks Prophet (editing)
  • (Turin)
  • (Neanderthal05)
We will need tactic writers, P&M writers, Illustrators (!), fluff writers, reporters (maybe). Freelancers will have to contact me personally if they want an article submitted.
We seem to have enough interest in this to start taking this seriously. I'll set up a forum for it.

I'll be a freelancer/fluff writer. If I can't get it to you once a month, it'll be every two months. I just need to get an idea, and start writing, then I can send it to you every 4 or 5 pages a month.
After I've done that, I'll try my hand at some tactics, and if that works, I may go back to fluff.
There's 10 kinds of people in the world; those that understand binary, and those that don't understand binary.

All who are interested should still write me something, anything, on about 750 words to me by PM. Knowledge about the issues you're supposed to write about later does not count as much as a good language. Your painting skills or tactically know-how doesn't mean a rabbit's nose if you can't explain, show or write about it.

But I don't have eneough experience playing (hell, the army's not even properly together yet !) to do tactics & such.
And I know the difference between 'its' and 'it's' , or 'to', 'two' and 'too' !!

This sounds like a great idea. Unfortuantely i dont have enough time (or ability ) or i would offer to help out (i know how much work it can be as im friends with a guy writing for citizen levy). I could proof read if need be but i think that will be Nags job so ill be sweet.

One idea though, i think the webmag should maybe be only bi-monthly. I would love a monthly one but i dont think we have enough ppl to do that. Asur.org only has a bi-monthly and they have like 2500+ members. But the decision is up to Nag.

Good luck guys

Sent in a fluff thing. I can still do some proof-reading/editing if there's nothing else to do, as well.

exactly how much artwork is neeeded for every issue? and what equipment is needed to do it? i might be able to do that, if you dont mind anime/manga style art with a little bit of western thrown in.
Am I the only one who thinks an elf army should be full of elves and not trees?

As much as possible. Perhaps one or two illustration accompanying each article (depending on its length). I'd prefer regular mainstream art, but manga style might look cool. Got any examples?
The tools needed are your own choice. All I need is an image file (not too big though). Black & white works, colours works. Computer designed works, sketched on paper works.

The monthly/bi-monthly will be decided later.

Hazel: I can proof-read your stuff if you want. Most of the work I do is done in Wordpad, and since that doesn't have spellcheck, I'm more or less compelled to proofread my own work.

Count me In. I'm been working on many Forum Mags in the past few years. TPV's Bi-Monthly, Druchii's Monthly, and many others.

So sign me up. I can do pretty much anything.. when it comes to writing of course. Editorials, Fluff, even Rules. I'm not so bad at illustrating, or painting either. But those aren't my strong points.

I'd like to help. I can do battle reports (once I get my army put together and painted... a few weeks for 500 point battles but will be a few months before I have enough for 2000 points).

I have a pretty good Digital Camera (Nikon D50) so I can take good pictures.

I can also write tactics articles, and maybe fluff/stories.

Sounds cool, I might join up if I can find the time. Could do fluff, tactics, art or a mix of all three. I'll send in something when/if I can.

heya all,

i would be interested in writing like a "monthly story"... a sample of my work is already on the fluff and stories section of this website if you would like to see it. also, i wouldn't mind doing some editing and proofreading. as an author, i find this sort of thing great fun.

well, im off to clean my room,
