What do you think the new battalion box will look like?

What do you think the new battalion box will look like?
So, with the update WE will get a new battalion box set in the style of the new Dark Elf and Dwarf ones which have some Core troops, a character (in both cases a minor one so that he can be used as is) and some specialist troops like the chariot/dark riders or the cannon.
Ours will almost certainly have the current set of Glade Guard, Dryads and Glade riders (assuming of course they don't change the units too much) but what do you think the character and special troops will be?
I'm thinking something from the specials section of the army so that is a choice between Treekin, Wardancers, Eternal Guard, Wild Riders and Warhawk Riders. At a guess I would say probably either the Wardancers or the EG with Tree kin as the next most likely. But of those I think the EG are the most likely as monstrous infantry would be overpowered for a starter box set. I know there's some monstrous infantry in the island of blood box but theres all kinds of odd in that box! Wardancers have a play style that is particularly unforgiving of mistakes even for wood elves so I think they are less likely, that said they may be very different under the new book so who knows?
As for the character it's likely to be something fighty rather than magical if the other two new style boxes are any indication. Also the others have been a specialist character related to other units in the box ( an engineer and a fleet master) So could some kind of Eternal Guard Character be on the horizon perhaps? Possibly even one meant to be the Leader of the EG?
This is total speculation and educated guesswork of course!

Re: What do you think the new battalion box will look like?
If I had to guess I would suppose the following
A plastic character (new)
20 Glade Guard
16-20 Dryads
8 Glade Riders
1 box worth of whatever infantry/cavalry unit gets put into plastic
Price - £100 or there abouts
A lot of it depends on the new plastic kits that come with the release. One thing I am certain of is that the 'Battle Line' set will only contain plastic models, no finecast and certainly not any metal.

I definitely can't see any Treekin being put in there. Plastic only will be my guess.
I didn't realise that the other boxes had a character put in.

Long live the King in the Woods!!!

I'm still a little bit skeptical about the 'owls' rumour, and its worth noting that in the case of both the dark elf and dwarf battle line sets they didn't include all of the new plastics, only the bare minimum packaged alongside a selection of existing plastic models.Dalsgaard wrote:This and the new warhawks/owls.Findecano wrote:If I had to guess I would suppose the following

Also if they are going to include a £30 set of MC the price will just to at least £120, probably more.

Has there been recent Batallion boxes? I know daemons have one, I haven't seen any others but they aren't on my radar.
Re: What do you think the new battalion box will look like?
They're not calling them batallion box sets anymore. They're called 'Battleforces' or some thing similar now, but they're effectivly the same thing. There has been one for Dark Elves and one for Dwarves in the new format. The price has also gone from £55-75 to £100 but while that's to be expected with GW there *is* more in them.popisdead wrote:Has there been recent Batallion boxes? Re: What do you think the new battalion box will look like?
They're called 'Battlelines', and they seem more analogous to the old army deal sets in the sense that they only seem to be available for a short time after release (unlike the battalions, which were continuously available). At least, I can't find the dark elf one on the GW site any longer, the dwarf one is still there though.
The funny thing is, I think the last 'army deal' boxed set I bought was the wood elf one from 6th edition.

Right okay those. Some were a really good value weren't they? Like the Tyranid and Dwarf releases had good value in theirs IIRC.

Re: What do you think the new battalion box will look like?
The Tyranid one was insanely good value, saving you almost £50 before you even consider the ripper swarms, the dwarf Nd imperial guard ones not so much, only about £24 less than full retail value (though to be fair that's a free box of warriors/chimera). Not sure about the dark elf one because its no longer up.popisdead wrote:Right okay those. Some were a really good value weren't they? How long did it take the Dwarf Battleline to be released after the main release of the book and such? When will the WE Battleline or Battalion likely be released?
