Top 5 heirlooms to keep?

Post by godswearhats »

Most of the new books are keeping no more than 10 magic items from their previous editions, and in most cases keeping less than that and getting a couple of new ones (or rewriting existing ones). So, I thought I'd start a thread to see what 5 heirlooms you would most like to keep in the new book, and what 1 item you'd like to keep but have tweaked rules. Note, not counting Spites here.

As an added incentive, when the new book comes out, if anyone's top 5 plus 1 tweak are in the rulebook, I'll send them a prize (one of the new minis). Here's a template you can cut and paste to make your life easy :-)

Code: Select all

[list=1]
[*]Item 1
[*]Item 2
[*]Item 3
[*]Item 4
[*]Item 5

Without further ado, here are my predictions and my tweak:

  2. Bow of Loren
  3. Helm of the Hunt
  4. The Rhymer's Harp
  5. Moonstone of the Hidden Ways

I will weep for the loss of any of the current magic items, but my 5 picks are:

Predictions

Man that was hard. I WANT THEM ALL IN THE NEXT BOOK DAMNIT!! (though maybe with a few rule changes)
WANTED: Wildwood Ranger axes. PM me if you have any spare.

Hunting Spear should come back to us from Beastmen.
HoDA
Helm of Hunt
Moonstone (but would much rather have Annoyance of Netlings effect if had to choose)

Let me have these and I'm happy dappy doo!

Predictions:
1. Dragontooth arrows
2. That crappy winter sword
3. One of the useless horn things
4. Briarsheath
5. Starfire arrows

These are the only items I want in the new book, completely unchanged

1. Blades of Loec
2. Hail of Doom Arrow
3. The Deepwood Sphere
4. Moonstone of the Hidden Ways
5. The Dawnspear

The Bow of Loren will be gone, as I think all Wood Elves will have the ability to shoot as many times as they have attacks.

1. Hail of Doom Arrow
2. Helm of the Hunt
3. Banner of Springtide (that's the stand & shoot at close range... I use it ALL the time on my GG)
4. Arcane Bodkin
5. Bow of Loren

Tweak: I've got to go with the Amaranthine Brooch - 3+ ward save against magical attacks as well as non-magical ones. (Good call Kakapo42)

Yeah that was hard, there are more items that I actually liked than I realised.

I'd like a few weapons that a Wild Rider Kin could use too.
Long live the King in the Woods!!!

Also, I can't see the AM Brooch becoming a straight-up 3++ ward. Nothing in the game has that, to the best of my knowledge. Any ward greater than 4++ has some kind of drawback.

My guess is anything from our 4th edition book will be in our 8th edition if it was in our 6th Ed book.

Wand of Wych Elm and Royal Banner of Ariel. While the latter is going to be scoffed at, the Banner of Nagarythe has been in the last 3 books and still near useless.

I cannot remember the other items. Acorn of Ages was in the Preview list but we just get free woods now.

Maybe we could get back The Hunting Spear from the Beastmen, they never use it :/

Eventhough I'd like to see Hunting Spear back, hardly that will happen. Royal Standard of Ariel is going to reappear, maybe under some other name like Royal Standard of Athel Loren. Acorn of the Oak of Ages might appear also. Wraithstone is almost like a wood elf sign, so it might happen again but I doubt it. What might appear is Flail of Claws and some Daith's weapon (spear, sword, bow). Drum of Orcskin is going to be my lucky shot.
