Re: Wood Elves of the Great Forest
Just a quick question. How much count Beastkin Kindred as affected by Beast's Anger? Is he UNDER this spell and it is only impossible to dispell it, or is he have just the same effect as from the spell? It is unclear if he can (or can not) be affected by regular Beast's Anger cast by some wizard. An...

Re: Wood Elves of the Great Forest
*On other hand to Scouts, far raiders seems to be pretyt much weaker that WR (no call of hunt, no fury of kurnous, no ItP, no 5+ natural ward save, the same armor, lover S if not on charge...) that 26 vs 26 points indicates! Lance is valuable, they are Fast Cavalry and they can flee, they get Talis...

Re: Wood Elves of the Great Forest
OK, so here is my think: The army seems to be very nice, I have even more "WElfish" feeling that from original WE :) Few things I think about: Magic weapons *Glaive of Oberon seems to be a little to costly for what it can do. *While this army shoots a lot, why is Bow of Loren (or any varia...

Re: Facing tactical charge
Scouts and WW are slow, but they have the Scout special rule (with nice addition in WW case) which can compensate they Mv5 :) BTW this topic is not mean to discusse how to use GR or other units to cover your skirmishers, but how to deal with tactical charge directed against your skirmishers; or how ...

Facing tactical charge
Hallo, after some of my current battles, I become tired from tons of tactical charges aimed on my skirmishers. So I start thinking about how to stop them, and how to use them. I come with some ideas how to limit them; and sometimes how to use them to my own benefit. Right now I am starting work on a...

Re: 2500 - HE vs WE
No, I was actually was talking about how you massacred him, so even if I saw a problem, whatever you did worked :D. As for the failed fear test, WR only cause fear ON THE CHARGE and so his charge should have been successful. -Seth Yeah, I know it. Problem was, my opponent declare he needs to pass L...

Re: 2500 - HE vs WE
Well played :). Even if i felt there was a fault, it seamed to work for you :D. -Seth You mean that "failed psychology test when charging against WR"? :) He claimed he failed psychlogy test and so he cannot charge, what was he testing I learned after whole battle. But if he will charge su...

Re: Seth..heya... that's not Sethayla? o.O (1999)
Honestly, I don't know. I normally would do +20 Glade Riders, but I'm wanting to surprise my friends a bit with a 'different' list without losing the Sethayla theme. Since I have a solid 1500 point army, and no Special or Rare slots left, a ton of Dryads just seemed like something I could do that w...

Re: Scroll Caddies
I agree with you 100% Beithir, and that's been my objective in this, to see if anyone else has had success with such an attempt so I can determine if this is purely a Sethayla thing, or if others have gotten it to work in a more 'balanced' list. My article is about Sethayla, the Mage hunting is jus...

Re: Scroll Caddies
I can't say I have a "lot" of experience with active magic defence, but I test this possibilitie too. Sometimes, it does awesome work. Sometimes, it is simply near-to-usseless for me. Against VC once, my opponent play 2 lvl2 Necromancers inside of one large block of Zombies. My WhR unit ta...

Re: Forest Spirits
I think 20 is good value. Glamourvawe and Wild Raider kindreds are 20, but with additional restrictions. This item will have no additional restrictions, but: * with kindred, you still have 50/100 free points for spites/items, with this item just 30/80 * if this will be spite, you can not take additi...

Re: Lost Kindred/Laurelornim: Army List COMMENTS
At first, i like idea of this list very, very much. It is much more WElfish that orignial WElves! :) Na I like a lot of the ideas and rules in this list too. There is only one thing I am concerned about: The model/points values. In fact, some units gain something new in compare to official WE list, ...

2500 - HE vs WE
Few dayes ago, I have my first battle against new HElves. I bring my experimental fast army, and my opponent bring army he will use on a tourney next week. He take this match as preparations for the tourney. I was hoping to try slightly altered list and some strategy and tactics ideas I have (mostly...

Re: The Year of the Wood Elf, 2250 Tournament All-Comers List
There are couple of mystakes in your list:
5 Glade raiders + Muso aren't 120, but 129 points
2nd Alter is not 158, but 152 points, because you cannot take both common light armor and Briarsheath (which is light armor itself).

Re: MSU Eternal Guard
That's true
My point is that they both can do and excel in different things; so you can choose between them according to what you wish to use in your army In another word, that there are more things you must take in count taht mydnight mentioned before

Re: MSU Eternal Guard
I think you forgot one important think in comparsion EG to Dryads: skirmish
Dryads are -1 to hit by shooting, BUT opponent can use tactical charge against them. This is GREAT WEAK POINT for dryads. On other hand, EG can be used for redirecting, something dryads never can do

Re: Scroll Caddies
Your argument about taking 2 WhR units in exhange for one caddy seems pretty pointless to me; I cant remember too much of WElfish armies which will not use all of it's special slots. In that case, you can take only core units, what, in terms of mage hunting, means GR units. And in terms of efficienc...

I read this article carefully, and it provides some great info! Thanx for that, man! /bow/ I recognize one thing what I think is typo: Only infantry of unit strength 10 or more get to fight on each side if you decide to hold your ground * shund not this be "of unit strength of 10 or LESS"?...

Re: Two 2.5k all-comers lists
For the 129 pts you'd pick up from the Glade Riders, I'd invest in a 7 model squad of Wardancers. They add a good amount of punch, as well as the ability to make your opponent bug out when he sees them down on the table. I understand your point, but... Problem is that another unit of WD would mean ...

Re: Two 2.5k all-comers lists
I think this list is way too heavy on Glade Riders, and would take out at least one squad to add some balance to the list. I add the 3rd unit of GR just after last battle, till now I play with 2 units of 6. I wish to test this, but you probably can be right. Which unit or changes will you advice me...

Re: Two 2.5k all-comers lists
During a few testing battles, I made few changes in my list and current outcome looks like this. I will need some more testing, but what are your oppinions? I'm at work on my lunch so I can't spend time looking it up, but if you go to the UK or US gw site and dig around you can find an old article in pdf form from the 150's era of White Dwarf by Mike McVey that is really good on painting horses. http://us.games-workshop.com/games/warhammer/painting/pai...

Re: Two 2.5k all-comers lists
Overall, it looks like a strong list, although you have a bit too much Fast Cavalry for my tastes! ;) Which cavalry units will you take out? And what units will you use to replace them? What I like about this list is speed. I have just 1 flying unit, but with such number of cavalry, I can quickly s...

Re: Two 2.5k all-comers lists
After a battle (against Vampires) with the 2nd list, I try to change things a little. My general in the middle of WD was not a good choice - wardancers needs to be quick, while he needs to not march because fo shooting. I thing next time he will start the game in the middle of GG, and eventually rid...

Two 2.5k all-comers lists
During tomorrow, I will have my 1st battle for 2.5k. I have 2 possible lists in my head, which I composite during today. I wish to try one of them tomorrow, and 2nd some other time (or at leats to try some non-treeman fast army and some dual treeman magic army :D ) 1st list have stron magic phase, b...
