No, it is intended as 'spook-speak' for 'severe' non-torture. It has been co-opted by others to mean torture. Some consider 'intimidation', such as barking dogs, or 'angry' interrogators as torture, others do not.
I would rather any futher ddiscussion on this took place elsewhere.

Re: Laeldon Twigheart and the Old Forest (500 pts Warbands)
No, the minimum size of units in Warbands is different. Most infantry has a minimum size of 3, cavalry 2, and large based models, 1. So 3 x 3 GG is better than 1 x 10. and 3 x 3 dryads is better than 8. There is a limit of 10 units, so the 30 ghouls will probably be in 9 x 3/4 and the Bretonnians ma...

Re: New Beastman rumors
So the miscast is a Ld test not just if the spell failed. That's better but will certainly put the clamps on Spamming. VC, in particular, cannot afford bad things to happen to their general.

Re: Tactical charge question
It could well be Herald. Many of the mistakes I make are because I was taught that way by others when I first started playing 7th. Because of looseness in the rules, we all play some RAW and some RAI. The group I started with were very competitive and moving towards RAW helped reduce arguments. I se...

Re: Wisdom appeal!!
I'm not sure there is a single method. We play two pool dice usable by anyone and separate pools for each army. Only the target or unit directly affected can attempt to dispel. Buffs or spells with no target can be dispelled by anyone. The problem with this method is that the enemy can quickly deple...

Re: Ice Age for Britain
The problem here in Atlanta is that this is so rare, that no one has snow tyres, chains, ploughs, or any other equipment, and even in Sweden, the freeze-melt cycle (which would probably be very rare) which produces sheets of very hard road ice covered by a cm of snow, would probably cause some chaos...

Re: Ice Age for Britain
Interesting to note the lack of snow in Eire and the way the cities stand out. Here in Atlanta, which about the same latitude as Casablanca, Baghdad, or Nagasaki, the lows are about -12 and the highs 0 ish. This is causing treacherous melt/freeze cycles causing lots of black ice and significant road...

Re: Wisdom appeal!!
I'm only saying how the rules are played locally. 'Friendly' is interpreted as under the command of the same general, so includes DoW, but not allies under the command of their own generals. I don't think that the rules or army books are written with allied armies in mind. Do you allow multiple warb...

Re: Laeldon Twigheart and the Old Forest (500 pts Warbands)
The Lost Kindreds do not come from Athel Loren and there is a decent amount of stuff from WHFRP for the Wood Elves of the Laurelorn. There is no limit to the cost of individual units? I thought a Varghulf was too expensive to be allowed in a 500 point Warbands list. I think you need a lot more shoot...

I guess the cold of winter has something to do with all the new Scandanavians joining lately (or Rammie/Nagathi has been dabbling in genetic engineering)

Re: Wisdom appeal!!
No, they are allies. You cannot use their general's leadership, they cannot join your units, you gain no direct benefit from their BSB or other magic items. On that basis, Treesinging was limited to units with only WE in them.

Re: Tactical charge question
But it says Combat, not Contact. In one on one, they are the same thing, in multiple unit combat, they are not the same thing. The whole fight is only one combat, not two. It also does not say 'in combat with it', or the similar. With the Wild Riders, I had read it that another unit had already forc...

Beithir. Herald specified in his original post that the Wild Riders needed to wheel considerably already just to get into combat. I made allowances for that wheel and a possible side-shift to achieve the configuration I depicted. Again, my answer is a response to the specific case in the original qu...

Re: Army againts Dwarfs
That's good, but dryads will still not screen you from warmachines on a hill. I'd spend the first three turns softening him up with archery. His warmachines just cannot do enough damage to you. Only in the last three turns would I launch my assault. Look at the victory conditions. you are playing wi...

Player who like SmashmouthHammer do not like facing mobile WE builds. Most mobile WE builds don't much like facing hordes who can line the table from edge to edge (2000 points+ O&G or Skaven on a 4' x 4' table for example)

Re: Tactical charge question
If the movement of the Wild Riders in the right-most digram is legal, then the Alter could charge as shown. All the Furies are still engaged and in this case the Wild Rider over-run would not be impeded by the Alter.
