Re: Ghosts of Modryn (1000 points of Deployment Insanity)
It seems strange to *not* allow Waystalkers access to the HoDA, when they would be an ideal place for it. Because 10 magical BS5 S4 AP Sniper shots with no armor saves allowed is a death sentence to just about any character in the game. At that point, you might as well have a rule that reads "...

Re: Gardeners question time: Placement of the free wood.
Sounds like an interesting discussion. I would agree on the "exclusion" of the Acorn; even though it's a fun item and I intend to include it in as many lists as I can, I don't expect to see it appearing in (m)any ETC lists (although I'm most definitely not an ETC gamer, so what do I know?)...

Re: Ghosts of Modryn (1000 points of Deployment Insanity)
Negative Waystalkers and Shadowdancers only get 25pt allotments for magic items. So no 50pt allotment to take the HoD arrow. Wow, I hadn't even noticed that! Sorry Atrophus, my bad! It seems strange to *not* allow Waystalkers access to the HoDA, when they would be an ideal place for it. That pretty...

Re: Wild Rider Shields Q?
I take it you mean are they easy to attach and detach from the models i.e. not fix them in place? If so, then no - there's no sort of handle or anything to fix the shields onto the arms that would keep them attached without glue. It might be possible to use really small magnets in the back of the sh...

Re: The Great Repaint (Pic Heavy!!)
You could, if you're brave! I didn't have that kind of courage :p To be honest, the amount of poses you can make with the different knee and elbow joints (combined with three different neck and waist joints) is pretty impressive, so you can make each and every Treeman different. It's just a shame th...

Re: The Great Repaint (Pic Heavy!!)
New treeman is it ? So how many extra legs and torsos do you get ? Is it like the daemon prince kit, I made two out of mine with a little green stuff. Unfortunately, they've gotten wise to that ploy. You only get one set of legs, and enough parts to make one torso. You end up up with a couple of sp...

Re: The Great Repaint (Pic Heavy!!)
Next update! The second month of the Tale of Duelling Gamers is now well under way, and I've finally managed to get my hands one of the new Wood Elf Treeman kits for this month's purchases. I've used a mix of parts from each in order to come up with what I think is a unique model. This uses Durthu's...

Re: Ghosts of Modryn (1000 points of Deployment Insanity)
One thing I would suggest though is if you can make the points then take hail of doom arrow on your other waystalker. It is a brilliant magic item that just got better. I don't think the way stalkers have enough magic item allowance to take it. How so? Waystalkers are Hero choices, so have 50pts of...

Re: Dryad Eye Colours
I think your Dryads are a bit tricky in this regard; red would be the "traditional" autumnal choice, but with the colour scheme you've used for your Dryads red eyes may not stand out enough with the bright orange leaves and the fairly mid-range browns. You want an altogether different, con...

Re: Wild Riders/Sisters of the Thorn magnetizing for dual us
Having now got hold of a couple of kits and looked through all the parts, I've come to the conclusion that magnetizing for dual use is too much like hard work I think I'll just keep an eye out on bitz shops and buy the duplicate pieces (legs, right arms and hairpieces) and do them that way.

they don't need new eagles they just could repack the lotr ones. Unfortunately, they can't because the LotR figures are licensed products based on the LotR/Hobbit licences GW obtained from New Line/MGM during production of the respective film franchises. If GW sold LotR/Hobbit figues as "Warha...

Re: New WE overpowered in Storm of Magic
The enemy player can still place a unit of troops within 3'' of the fulcrum to grant the wizard a 4+ look out sir. Since when have you been able to take Look out sir rolls against BS shooting? Since, um, always? If a character's outside a unit but within 3" he gets a LoS against *all* shooting...

Re: Modryn, The Night Glens
Fluffwise, all Wood Elf halls have Glade Guard as their "standing army" - every adult elf is capable of wielding a bow, and will fight as a Glade Guard in times of war (unless they already have a "specialty"). They're basically the mainstay of every Wood Elf army, so that's your ...

Re: Tethlis' Army Blog: 2 new Batreps, updated 5/5
On a regular Treeman, BS 6 is the saving grace, but on a Ancient? Stand & Shoot/Moving, long range (not unlikely) and multiple shot = 6's to hit. Y'know, I didn't even realise Strangleroots was an option for the Ancient until my second read-through of the book. Definitely seems like something t...

Re: Eternal Guard or Wildwood Rangers?
The single biggest factor in the anvil stakes is Stubborn. Rangers aren't. Treekin aren't. Eternal Guard are . It doesn't matter how many casualties they take, and how badly they lose, so long as there's one guy left alive they will hold their ground eight times out of ten (almost ten out of ten wit...

Re: To Command or not to Command
Are musicians in my scouts necessary? Mainly, should I be taking flee reactions with them to warrant the 10 points? If Fleeing is beneficial to you, then yes you should be fleeing. It's very rare that you'll *want* a Scout unit in combat. Stand & Shoot is obviously the preferred charge reaction...

this is DEFINITELY not as open-closed as the above^ seems to indicate. You need to get a ruling from a TO or your gaming group, otherwise you are making unhappiness for yourself in the future. I really fail to see how this is *not* open-closed. It is written as clear as day in the rules. "All ...

Re: To Command or not to Command
Wild Riders can similarly benefit from a Musician, although you'll be hoping they won't have to Rally that often :D A Standard Bearer can help them out in combat, and every little bit of CR helps. It gives them the possibility of a magic banner as well. A champion is up to you; it used to be common...

Re: To Command or not to Command
In general, we don't take many full command units but certain command models are still beneficial, specifically musicians. Depending on how you plan to use them, Glade Guard can benefit hugely from having musicians to allow them to swift reform and still shoot. I never leave home without musicians i...

No, you're right. Venom Thickets very specifically state that they only affect Close Combat attacks.
