i think all three have their uses: if i wanted a properly competitive army i'd probably take an ancient and a treeman. from reading other peoples comments and from personal experience this is the most consistent of the three at winning games (for me at least) if i wanted a nice all-rounder army i'd ...

all that fast cavalry would sure be interesting to play against!!

personally i take 2GR units both with musicians, and a unit of WR (usually 5 or 6) and it works pretty well for me
i dont have any trouble fitting them on the table so it shouldn't be a problem for you

wardancers are a bit of a double-edged sword...they hit like hell most of the time but EVERYTHING relies on them killing the front rank and breaking on the charge because they're way too fragile to sustain many attacks back thats why combined charges are so important but if you pick the right target...

I'm impressed you killed a carnosaur with S3 bows, 'as well' as all the other enemy units and characters in one game. My point stands about the alter highborn (who can also accomplish this goal standing in your deployment zone out of the 24" MM range. And as for rare choices, a treeman and a great ...

drop the champs in the scouts and GG, they're just a waste of points. if you don't intend to get into combat ever then why do you need WD and TK???? might be worth changing the items on WW Lord to make more use of his special rules.... GR would help hold up enemy units (thus giving more time for sho...

i always take two units of 6 cos they're great!! they earn back their points so quickly (at least when i use them...) in one battle between them they took out 3 skink priests, a scar veteran (or oldblood can't remember) and carnosaur, and about 15-20 skinks! thats around 500-700 points on its own my...

yeah i have to agree with Prince of Arnheim.. the spellweaver is an awful lot of points to throw away without some sort of ward save to fall back on so i would advise the same precautions Glamourweave, stone of the crystal mere or something similar (better safe than sorry!) other than that its a gre...

Sure it does. What if you face a seven wide Chaos Warrior unit? Then the same five would fight, and only one would be able to get in corner-to-corner instead of two.

ok point taken sorry about that

i've never measured the bases and i probably never will i just always assume they're 25mm because thats what it says they're supposed to be i've also never noticed that it gives any sort of bonus or disadvantage when it comes to B2B contact think about it...if you have a 5 wide cav. unit thats a fro...

i think i'd agree with YourMumRang the WR would probably prove to be more useful in the greater scheme of things whereas the shooting from the GG woudn't make that much difference on its own

if you want a more-squishy-less-barky army then winter is your ideal choice because if you eventually do want to field one unit of dryads then you can easily justify it plus winter armies aren't that common in any race so it'd be easy to make it look unique...

i usually play with 2x10 GG and for me they're one of the units that performs consistantly!! (along with WW, GR and WR) i consider them a must personally and the added bonus of move & shoot plus str.4 at short range can be crucial if it's used well

its also v.fluffy!!!

the only thing i can think of to give you enough points for a third scroll is different equipment on the alter but that compromises his effectiveness.... i think your best bet would be to play a few games with 4 dice and 2 scrolls to see if you can cope with the magic facing you ...it may just be en...

i agree with what most people have said already. i include both dryads and wardancers in my armies but if one unit gets dropped its usually the dryads simply because wardancers have access to abilities (dances) that can allow them to deal effectively with a wider variety of enemy units also i think ...
