I understand that. I was just trying to put out my arguments clearly, that is all. (plus count in the fact my english pretty much sucks )Frimbleglim wrote:I'm not trying to abuse the rules, just trying to work out if a unit of branchwraiths has any merit in competitive play

Re: Unit of Characters
Thanks unicorn. That answers my question. Is this in the rulebook or is it FAQed? Unfortunately, for characters it is not listed anywhere. Tough, this "principle" can be seen on multiple places in BRB and FAQs and there is nothing indicating otherwise for this case. It also apply on mixed...

Re: Why not Oaken Armour?
What magic is making you lose your ward save? Aside from Flaming Attacks, you have to worry about Killing Blow. When you can get an equivalent ward save for the same price, why spend so much on armour that leaves you defenceless against killing blow? Killing blow allows a ward save. So does most ma...

Re: Unit of Characters
But then what if you have two unicorns on 50mmx50mm bases and two branchwraiths in the unit? Can you see why I am asking the question? In this case, there is no "majority" of the models and you are supposed to "use" the rules for "bigger" ones (and yes, this is pretty ...

Re: Unit of Characters
If 8 Branchwraiths and a Spellsinger on Unicorn form a unit with 4 Branchwraiths and the Spellsinger in the front rank, do they count as having two ranks for the purposes of combat resolution (for a bonus of +1)? Yes. And you will get it even if you will place only 3 branchies in 1st and 2nd rank (...

Re: wardancers supporting attacks and the +1A dance
No. Infantry with more than one attack only get to make one support attack regardless of the source of any additional attacks I will say slightly otherwise, just for sure. 2nd line WILL benefit from +1A dance. If they will get flanked, the models in BtB will have +1A. On other hand, suporting attac...

Depends on the format.
Generally, anything 2000-2999 - 6 treekins and 12/14 Dryads. This are the numbers that works best for me, a posteriori.

1) Banner of Midwinter: If you give it to a BSB. The opponent succeeds in killing your BSB during combat. Is the unit still unbreakable for this turn or not? Yes, it is still unbreakable. The unit where he is in, get's charged and you declare that you use the banner to become unbreakable. This is i...

I see, what about with models on a 20mm base though? Uh huh. Huh. I will need to recalcuate this, but probably 10 models should be enough. I got that, but is that a failed charge or do you just get charged in the flank. Failed. You must complete your charge against the some side you declare your ch...

Simply. It does not. Released fanatics are not the part of the unit anymore, so they are not influenced by any magical effect the unit have upon itself.frogboy wrote:Night Goblin Fanatics and the Razor Banner, how does that work ?!?

Re: Glittering Armour, Fimbulwinter Shard, Dawnspear
Nothing is causing a -1 penalty to weaponskill here. It is a -1 penalty to hit, ie to the dice roll. However a natural roll of 6 always hits regardless of anything. Exactly WS 0 just means you are hit automaticaly in close combat however I don't believe there is anything in the game that can reduce...

You can not exceed 6PDs, unless some special rule allows you so.hardkorek wrote:Can extra dices from power stone exceed 6 dice limit for casting a spell?
DElves have such rules, for example. Power stone have not such exception.

Re: Are Great Eagles "really" worth it?
Are you able to explain your working? I did some math with in graphical programs in front of me. 12 models means 3" of "side-move" what should be enough to move a dryad, who is 1" away AND blocking directly forward move of enemy unit, out of 90° wheel range. With 10 models, the ...

So if I read the sentence without the parenthesis I can interpret this to mean that even a model without a weapon of any kind such as a dryad, a tree-kin, an elven steed, etc, the model would still have the -1 armor save modifier if it had this rule. There are no "models without weapon" i...

Re: Hitting High WS Opponents Wearing Glittering Scales
Glittering scales affects CC attacks only.
You can not hit in CC at worser number that 5+ (before any additional modificators comes in). And in CC, you always hit on natural 6 no matter the modificators.
Hitting on 7+ or more is only matter of shooting.

I guess if you can somehow make it so that the chargers cannot get into contact with only one wheel...then it would be a valid tactic because the charge would then count as failed, but that seems extremely unlikely if your opponent is smart with positioning. I made some calculations and you actuall...
