Re: [5th Edition] Beating Chaos Knights?
Haven't read all the replies so hope I'm not repeating anything. My basic solution would be Wardancers... two units if you can get them. Their dance "The Shadow's Coil" is the ace. Send them in two waves: 1) Your turn 1, Wave 1: shove 1st unit of Wardancers in their face to force a charge....

Re: Wardancer Block
I readily accept that trade-off. If I want AP assured every round, I simply take spears on roughly half the unit. Between that and the extra 5 attacks WD get over EG, I think it evens out.razorfate wrote:Not when they make the survival dance

Re: Anyone have any experience with Masters/Swedish?
Phazael, I'd really like to see a typical list you use. I've recently come to really liking the Highweaver on unicorn, last tourney I went to, I did not lose her once in 5 games (in fact, they're the only games I've ever fielded her). However, I know that I'm not getting the most out of her yet. She...

They have plenty of AP actually.Aezeal wrote:
I agree they could be more usefull against a T3 army.. but those often are armor heavy which also doesn't combine well with wardancers (no AP :S)

Re: Anyone have any experience with Masters/Swedish?
With this book I've faced Star Dragons, Phoenixes, Greater Daemons, Chimerae, Abominations, Varghulfs and there are plenty more criminals out there, such as Plague Drones. These are my primary worry, not war machines so much. War machines on the whole won't do so much damage to largely MSU elves as...

Re: Wardancer Block
I've been seriously contemplating a large unit of wardancers myself lately. I think a large unit can work very well if you keep it in a forest (venom thicket) and force your opponent to engage it. I think a Shadow spellweaver is essential in the overall list. To support it, I think a decent sized un...

Re: Anyone have any experience with Masters/Swedish?
Just want to say, I ran a spellweaver on unicorn with HIgh magic in the recent UPGT and she was the only model in my army that did not die once in all 5 games. Never got more than 2 wound counters on her at any given time, but that was really all she ever needed. 4 out of 5 games, there were 2 or mo...

How about a forest entry? Can't have too many of those and it's not necessarily for the wood elves.

FWIW, there are three cannons total in the top ten armies in that tournament. I think simple line of sight was used. As a side note, four of those armies are daemons and three of those had Kairos in the list. Swordmaster himself got the worst beating vs a lizard army with lord Kroak. That leads me t...

I wonder if it would be worth doubling up on extra stubborn: bring Araloth and a character with the crown.

FWIW, the top WE player at CanCon (7th out of 120 players) used two weavers: L3 Beasts and L3 Metal.

They could have just said in the HoDA description, "may not be taken by a waystalker".Mollesvinet wrote:For the waystalker that would be hail of doom arrow. The 25 point allotment and 30 point cost of HODA is clearly intentional. Not sure what the intentions are behind the shadowdancer though.

Yeah, this is one of the stupidest issues in WH currently, having characters and champions denying combatants from attacking... just because. This is by far my biggest pet peeve. Keep playing it the way you're playing Bill!

I'm just trying to understand the thinking. Lances are too difficult to use after contact. Shorter spears are too (according to GW, I disagree). Asrai Spears are sharper short spears. What rationale for them being usable after the charge where other short spears aren't? The AP applies always becaus...

Re: Legion of the Stars **short magnetizing tutorial + new p
I have slowly been adding magnets to my troop bases too. I do it in a slightly different manner though. I use the cutting mat as a guide for centering the magnet under the base: if you place a magnet on an intersection of the grid, a 20mm base lines up near perfectly to the grid-lines. Also, I use h...

You mixed up some of the male torsos with female head and legs. I like the colors though. Ha ha! As noted, Elves are a little more feminine anyways so its not a major issue. To me that is lol I laughed because I don't think there are male and female legs. Certainly male and female torsos and ...

I think you would have a more well-rounded force if you changed one of the wizards to a glade captain. Two wizards should be plenty.

Re: Multiple Shots Question
On LOS, the ETC uses simple LOS, which I find to be overall the best current set of sight rules. They are very simple and easy to understand.
As an aside, the only improvement I'd like to see is adding back in seeing through only 2" of forest, like it used to be in older editions.
