Re: 9th age Woodies are out! Lets discuss!
Since 9th hasn't introduced special characters yet I've been looking for an Elk Prince wth a suitable build to Proxy for Orion. This is what I've came up with; Wild Hunter Forest Prince with LA, Cloak, Hardened Shield, Ogre Blade and Talisman of Supreme shielding. 6 Str 7 with T5 2+/5++ on the charg...

Re: 9th age Woodies are out! Lets discuss!
Just wanted to help restart the discussion here, I've been playing ninth age for a long while now and it's so much more fun than 8th ever was. I recently used an all tree list, and it worked! If a forest spirit is the general it means that Dryads can take command groups, so I've used the new tree re...

AoS 60 Wound limit
I am going to give it a go. Despite my initial hatred, after playing a few more AoS games the synergy between themed lists (Grimgor and his Black Orcs, Sylvanaeth and their woods) have encouraged me to have a look at my local GW's AoS campaign. It's starting off at 60 wounds with the following restr...

9th Age
My friends have been getting rather excited about this 9th edition Fan-Fix. It definitely seems to be on the right track, i especially like it's changes to the Magic System which punishes bigger spells and makes a level 4 non-compulsory. The balance changes also mostly seem fine and they will eventu...

Re: So, Stormcast Eternals, how do we deal with them?
That's how I read it, the fact it says they cannot be activated until ''All other units has made their attacks'' implies that applied to both players. For example if you multi-charged a Glade Lord on Dragon, a Treeman and a unit of Wild Riders into a 35 strong unit of Zombies as the only assault tha...

Re: So, Stormcast Eternals, how do we deal with them?
All things made of Briar and Branch are good, but i would suggest the Ancient. He may have one less sweeping blow attack but he is a wizard and has one of the most terrifying powers in the game. Assume you have a Wyldwood which your Ancient is either in or just behind, the enemy army converges on it...

Re: So, Stormcast Eternals, how do we deal with them?
Waywatchers kick all sorts of ass. Using the piercing shots to cause 2 wounds each with possible -2 rend they can easily put a major pinch on many of his units and be a credible threat to his characters. Also make good use of Wyldwoods and Dryads, when non-Sylvaneth models charge in then on a 1 they...

Re: Regiments of renown
The champion is because i had 10pts to spend. 3 Waywatchers is 60 and 2 Glade Guard is 30, so those 10pts went into a champion. I'm hoping i won't find any T5, can you think of any T5 models with less then 3 wounds? I'm drawing a blank. EDIT** Characters are not needed. the only necessary thing is 2...

Re: Regiments of renown
I'm not to scared of any cheap mages. Wood Elf bows can out ranged 80% of magic missiles and if i prioritize him he isn't likely to get in range either. I was highly considering a pure cav list, but i feel 5 arrows usually at -1 to hit for moving won't win me any games, were armour ignoring ones at ...

Regiments of renown
My store is running something akin to 40k Kill Team. It's 100pts, 25% must be core and models can be bought individually. No more then 20 models, no 3 wound models, no ethereal, no War Machines and finally only one model can have fly. Lots of restrictions. What would you throw into this? I'd run som...

Re: Speculation on the fate of the Asrai (lore and gameplay)
Unless something drastic happens, lorewise, Athel Loren is the safest place on the planet at this moment. With that in mind going forward, it would make a lot of sense for the other Elves to drift into becoming Wood Elves rather then the other way round. Athel Loren changes the people within it, so ...

Re: Durthu -End Times-
I don't think we are getting anything in this new book, except maybe a ''formation'' if we are lucky. I'm hoping for that Wargrove mentioned earlier, something that included several Treemen, hopefully with some kind of buff. I was thinking, would it be to powerful to re-write his fluff a little bit ...

Durthu -End Times-
Durthu, Regent-King of the Greenwood It was only when Ariel passed from the world and merged with Allariel the Everqueen did Durthu's mind clear. For it was he who made the original pact between Elves and the Forest with the past Everqueen Astarielle and he held much love for her, and he saw her re...

Re: 1500 pnt Unicorn Vs Beastmen
Against Beastmen I'd prefer the extra unit of Wild Riders over the Eagles. Beastman chaff have no saves whatsoever, so are easy picks for Trueflight archers. You have no need to out chaff him, Wild Riders will chew through almost anything he has to offer. 5 Wild Riders put out 13 wounds onto most Go...

Re: Synergy with Dark Elves
I don't want to start an unnecessary rules debate in an inappropriate place, so i'll just say it doesn't matter if an unofficial FAQ or Tournament Pack rules on way or the other because unless Black Library (They do the 'official' FAQ's, right?) have a ruling then my ruling is as good as yours as lo...

Re: Synergy with Dark Elves
Different from intended, maybe. Different from written? Not at all. It says any model with Muderous Prowess can re-roll to wound, it doesn't say it only effects close combat. Which ever way you interpret it, it doesn't matter. The OP wants to know synergies between Dark and Wood Elves and the list w...

Re: Synergy with Dark Elves
The Cauldron of Blood allows any models within 6'' re-roll to wound, even in shooting. This means Trueflight arrows have great synergy with it, due to being able to hit easily yet have trouble wounding. So having one of these surrounded by Glade Guard would work well i feel.

Synergy with Skaven?
Heretical, i know, but can anyone think of what units and strategies synergies with an allied Skaven army? With the new End-Times on the way, my store is running a doubles 2500pt (1250 each) End Times tournament, and my partner is determined to get the Doomwheels rolling. I know his army will includ...

Re: How to beat the RAF
Had the game today, it was a loss, but it was a close loss and i realized where i went wrong. His Stone Throwers went down hard, they didn't get a single shot off because Hagbane Scouts killed 1 turn 1 and the other couldn't get a shot through Iceshard Blizzard before it to was pin-cushioned. Hagban...

How to beat the RAF
Just to say, i have a worrying lack of Waywatchers. I have 6 and a Waystalker, not the best i know, but it's what i have :( This weekend i have a game against the Royal Air Force, a Brettonian army which contains maybe 12 Pegasi Knights, Pegasi Heroes or Lords. They have 2 wounds, T4 and a 2+ armour...

Re: Khaine: Woodelf Fluff Review
I just finished reading through the End Times book (It was great by the way, probably not worth £60 good, but luckily i found a site online which was...generous enough to let me read through it for free) and i have to agree, GW didn't just shoe-horn all the Elves together without reason. There is a ...

Re: On Wardancers - Experiences and tactical advice; Yay or
So far i have found two good uses for War Dancers, both are situation and only good at one job, but the job they do they can do better then any other unit on the army book. Firstly, assassination. Take a unit of 5 models, 3 in the front rank, 2 in the back. If they charge into a unit with a characte...

Re: Dryad Hordes
What other units would you suggest her to join? Because she is on such an awkward base size (I don't think any other Wood Elf models share the same base) she has to be thrown to the side of most units, making her quite easy to pick off by directed attacks at her. She is no longer a Skirmisher so she...

Re: how to kill nagash
I managed to kill myself a Nagash myself today. Poisoned Arrows did well to knock off 5 wounds, but in 1 casting of Breath of Undeath he regained 3. What won the game for me was me managing to make The Withering stick for a single turn, then nailing his with the Sisters of Twilight. The poisoned Sis...
