Re: Any more Asrai left in these woods?

Hi, the posts have slowed down indeed. Personally, I lost interest in playing since AoS came out but I keep painting. The 9th age seems very promising though.

Re: Khaine: Woodelf Fluff Review

Hi, I kind of like the new fluff. The eternal strife between good (HE) VS bad (DE) guys was getting borring. Not to mention that WE were no part of that story. Can't wait for new warhammer audiobooks to come out.

Re: Over highlighting

nXken, generally try to dry brush first. This way, the areas that need to be highlighted will stand out. IMO the stag in the pic has not been highlighted properly. That makes your lighter colors to look out of place. Put a thin layer of wash to make the color variations look more even. After wash do...

Re: HELP NEEDED Foot Based List-Theory Hammer b4 the Actual

Perhaps the idea behind the wardancers is to use their maneuverability: - To achieve a flank charge. A small brick of wardancers, 10-15 strong, can move up to 10" sideways and take an advantageous position for a flank charge. They have enough wounds to use the anti-rank dance and survive the re...

Re: Great Eagle = Mind freaking blown

People prefer to use warhawk riders. Cheaper and serve the same function as a unit of eagles, unless ifyou run the eagles in units of 1-2 models.

Everybody benefits from the spell. Since, among other targets, it targets a "cavalry, monster...etc" the attribute triggers and it is also -1 to cast.

Re: Glade Riders - What do you think?

Glade Riders are great! I do like the ambush rule, in fact they are better with it. Consider that some of the points spent on Glade Riders are spent for ASF and the asrai spears. With the ambush rule GR can put these in use, since they can pick their targets. When normally deployed this is much hard...

Re: What models of WE to buy now for 8ed AB?

Hi, I started with 20 glade guards and 10 wardancers found at e-bay, thought i like the army and then bought and painted 2 battalions.
If you are really into starting WE go for a battalion - plastic core models used in most army lists and nice to paint.

Re: Homemade Wizard's Tower

The whole construct/sculpt is really nice. Try to put another colour on the backgraound of the tower walls - different to that of the stones. Currently, either your camera cannot capture the stones well or they need another colour to stand out. As for the ceramics on top, perhaps they would look bet...

Re: Dryads on Bears as new M.C unit

Well, if you'd picture dryads as half naked elven maidens people would more complaisant with the idea. At any case we already have warhawk riders as M.C and bears are a more winter/dwarvish themed monster. Check WoW or Heroes of M&M and previous to these the kislev armybook (or white dwarf-kisle...

I agree with 12 gg too. They also have more probability to cause panic check to small charging units trying to engage your gguards.

Re: Rumour: New Treeman Mini with the High Elf Release

Generally GW is overactive this year - with the HE book they reach the record of most armybooks/codexes released in a year and they are about to release more. Besides, its the 30th anniversary of Warhammer Fantasy. On this basis, perhaps they release a Treeman along or soon after the HE release. Thi...

Probably you do not need to place your eternal guard in horde fomation. With 5 models front you will be able to put your spellweaver with rhymers harp in the second rank.

Re: Arrow & Blade (2000 points)

Drop the wardancers for more dryads and your waywatchers for glade guard. Probably you can squeeze in a treeman. Wardancers and waywatchers are very occasional, extremely expert troops with no worth-mentioning saves. Usually they are a dissapointment and I have quited using them (after 12+ games of ...

Spellsinger with dispel scroll or deepwood sphere on elven steed with 6-7 glade riders and musician. However that is only compatible with hit and run lists (units of 10 glade rides moving around, never get in combat and take a draw as a result). Perhaps a good idea is the ring with the fire spell (m...

Re: Tree Singing Mega Madness

The madness here is that you use treesinging to move forwards!!!! ... Wood Elves are not formidable in close combat. Treemen can be brought down by hordes with S3 flaming attacks (or S4+) and it is the most scary thing WE can put on the field right now. Moreover you will generally need 2 dice to cas...

EG front rank =11 attacks +noble 3 attacks (for ease of mathammer purposes Im going to tone down noble statline to eternal guard with the extra attacks) EG supporting attacks = 12 (rank 2 and 3- fight like spears) When using two attacks in the front rank then the unit will not attack as if it had s...

Re: knightlyknave's Wood Elves 8e Fan version

I would suggest you to check out the units/points of other armybooks to have a reference. For example empire archers are BS 3 shoot S3 arrows and cost 8 points. You cannot cost glade guard 7 points with BS4 S4 arrows, Quick to Fire and 5+ ward save! Generally I think you have some nice ideas so keep...
