Re: AOS Wood Elf units, strengths/weaknesses
I think if you want a solid eternal guard unit, you need to include that BSB! Have them follow behind your EG for initial charge protection, then on your next turn bough up and watch them shine

Re: multiple dangerous terrain tests
Just give them an option on which to pick being it is a friendly game. They at least should know the correct amount, or you are doing them a disservice in making them think that the incorrect way is the correct way. Edit: making them commit heresy in which they think is the correct way. Sorry i jus...

Re: multiple dangerous terrain tests
If the unit reentered open terrain after that, I wouldn't ask for a forth test. I feel that one DT test per piece of dangerous terrain is probably how it should be. That is like saying in order for me to get behind your ranks I crossed a single wall twice but made the test once for both crossings u...

Re: Lore of Fire...Has it been overlooked?
Ya the low strength attacks kinda hold it back. I'd only take fire in an avoidance list, because high armour and high toughness aren't really an issue. The main threats would be war machines,BS shots, and wizards. Fire can really help clear 2/3 of those threats by the end of turn 1. Once those probl...

Re: multiple dangerous terrain tests
I'd look at it like this: curse of anrahier makes the unit treat all terrain as DT. For argument's sake, lets assume open terrain triggers DT tests. The unit is in a forest and charges. It takes a DT test for charging in dangerous terrian. It then enters a new piece of dangerous terrain, open terrai...

Re: multiple dangerous terrain tests
3 dt tests. As long as your group agrees that curse affects open terrain as well, they'd take one per piece of terrain that they charge through. It might seem a little harsh, but that's why it's such a good spell

Re: Lore of Fire...Has it been overlooked?
I'm sure there will be many reasons why people say fire is useless for us, but I agree with you (for the most part). Burning head is not the least useful, flaming cloak is, by a long shot. You just don't want your spellweaver in combat. If you bring a couple waystalkers, and take out the bsb, flamin...

Re: Wood Elves weakest of the elves?
Shades are cheaper and better than waywatchers in combat (better ws, murderous prowess, full command, can have light armour and additional hand weapon or greatweapon and still be cheaper), they have the same bs, multiple shots is the same except for 6" of range, but they don't have the no armo...

Re: Wood Elves weakest of the elves?
Wild riders are fantastic! But they'd get nowhere without our precise, and mobile shooting to clear chaff, war machines and other shooters for them. It's far too easy to redirect a frenzied unit, and they're far too weak to sustain several shooting phases. Maybe there's a miscommunication here. When...

Re: Strangleroot root rules
Don't forget the extra -1 for multiple shots, I wasn't too sure about strangleroots at first but then i saw the treeman is now bs6  so in my opinion it's well worth it for s5 and the 12" range For 20pts, id try it out :) especially at bs6. What I don't get is why they even made it an...

Re: Wood Elves weakest of the elves?
I don't know anything about rxbmen, but I assume they follow the same rules as normal crossbows? Move or fire? That right there is worth the extra points for glade guard. And I have no doubt that waywatchers would take out shades in both cc and shooting. I would never argue that wood elves aren't a ...

Re: Wood Elves weakest of the elves?
How many pts...slaves..whatever, is a high elf archer? you wanna talk about shooty? You can fit about 36 glade guard with swiftshiver arrows in your min core allowance. Thats 72 shots, and it (kind of) equates to 8pts a model for a bs3 archer. Take 20 waywatchers and youve got 40 more bs4 shots. Tak...

Re: Wood Elves weakest of the elves?
If you're talking about strictly cc power, then ya, we're the weakest. If you're talking about power level in a tournament environment, then it depends on the comp system being used. In an uncomped area, I think they're quite competitive. Our army still (thankfully) isn't a no brainer. It requires t...

Re: Of Orion
Orion needs a full compliment of poison to stay alive. Those cannons need to go turn 1. Wizards are second priority, so its probably a good idea to fill your heroes with waystalkers and death mages. If you can get rid of them, then he's free to roam the table. Just a thought (don't have my book on m...

Re: Deepwood Scouts any thoughts?
Scouts are incredible. They give you a fantastic threat range with your shots, and it doesn't sting too much if you need to use them as redirectors. If you find you don't have the room for waywatchers (double treeman, or youve gone mad and field 12 great eagles) they make great subsitutes. 135 slave...

Re: 2500 allround list
I think it looks pretty good! One comment, have you tried taking a lv 2 on life before? I've always found it to be disappointing, because theres just a tad too many spells you don't want, and the signature isn't worth falling back on (especially for a character thats a magnet for flaming attacks). J...

Re: Shadowdancer and Calaingor's Stave
Tree singing has no attribute, so nothing extra would happen if you cast it :) it doesn't take on any other lores attributes. If it did though I'd take life, death or high haha Part of me wishes that they made only one custom attribute for us (instead of one for high and one for dark) and let tree s...

Re: Sisters of the Thorn +1 for extra rank to others?
the Unit get +1....when casting a spell. So if you cast a spell with your wizard, the unit itself is not casting the spell. So the wizard would not get the bonus. This is the best interpretation to clarify the rule. The wizard doesn't benefit from the deepwood coven special rule, but can contribute...

Re: Scroll of Shielding vs RiP DD Spells
I'd also say yes. The scroll lasts the duration of the spell. It'd also work with spells that have secondary effects, like flame cage. What about something like curse of anrahier? EDIT: or something like chain lightning? Would the target be every unit hit, thus giving them all a 4+ ward? Or would it...

I also don't have the book on me right now, but I believe it says partially within the forest, which leads me to think they'd be hit multiple times.
I know it's an unlikely situation, but you still see conga lines now and again haha

Tree Singing
Just a quick question about the boosted version. In the highly unlikely sutuation that a unit happens to be in 3 forests at once, if I cast super tree singing, will they get hit 3 times (6d6 str 4)?
