Re: Some Wood Elves Being Eliminated!
I have a bunch of wardancer models, and it's always bothered me how weird their faces were, how their poses were awkward, and how thin and oddly-shaped their bodies were. They look really flat from the side, and their proportions are bogus. I won't really miss them, excepting that I loved sending th...

Re: Some Wood Elves Being Eliminated!
Let's be honest, AoS doesn't have any place for a lot of the units that used to be core filler in your army, and it doesn't have any room for overlap between models, since you can easily just include other factions' units in your army if you want them with the new Order vs. Chaos arrangement. Treeki...

Re: Some thoughts on Age of Sigmar
Rather than keep lists in your head when you go to play AoS, it's better to keep possible unit combos, interactions and possible multi-unit strategies that you can make use of with your collection when you deploy. Other than that, knowing your opponent's army well enough to consider possible counter...

Re: AoS Shooting in/out combat
WFB and KoW are essentially battle simulation games, where the individual models don't matter. You could easily play them with pieces of paper cut out in the unit's footprint without issue, especially KoW. Individual models in AoS matter more, like in skirmish games or other games with low model cou...

Re: AoS Shooting in/out combat
Remember that there's no charge reactions in AoS, so without stand and shoot ranged units would be pretty trash in AoS if they couldn't shoot into combat. Units get into melee on turn 2 or even turn 1 pretty easily, so it's not like 8th edition where you could have 2-3 turns of shooting before melee...

Re: So, Stormcast Eternals, how do we deal with them?
It's worded the way it is to account for multiple combats - you can't skip your combat round with any units, they all have to participate in close combat at some point. Soporific Breath prevents the units affected from being chosen until after all others have acted - even if the normal turn sequence...

Re: Size of GW wood
As someone who owns a Citadel Wood, I'd say if you have the money to buy it, it's a good investment. Not only does it look really great on the table, but it comes with a great number of bits that you can use for conversions, wound markers, objective markers, ability effect markers, base decorations ...

Re: Size of GW wood
Remember, the trees aren't removed when units move through them in AoS, so they do affect movement and the like. It's best if you model a few trees to put into your forest to represent this fact.

Re: AOS Wood Elf units, strengths/weaknesses
I read the rules up again to cross-reference things, and it would appear that in all cases bonuses from the same source never stack - be it terrain, ability buffs, or otherwise. The only way to stack bonuses is if each bonus is from a different source, with a different name, even if the effect is th...

Re: AOS Wood Elf units, strengths/weaknesses
Jury's out on stacking casts of Mystic Shield. Some people conclude that you can do so, but others posit that casting the spell gives the unit the Mystic Shield effect, and additional castings on the same unit won't do anything because the Mystic Shield effect is already on the unit. Personally, I'm...

Re: Games Workshop Store:
With the ScE guys, you don't actually need more than a box or so of each model (possibly two), and they're pretty big plastic dudes, so their price point is actually reasonable given their quality and the fact that people won't need to buy huge piles of them to field a ScE army. They've gotta make u...

Re: WotSF Age of Sigmar
Whatever you bring has to deal with armor, since ScE pack serious armor saves. A big unit of glade guard with arcane bodkins is good - but they can only do the trick once, and they'll perish in combat, and you have to take a big block of them (20+) for them to be really effective. I think in larger ...

Since there's a Sylvaneth vs. Nurgle campaign thing going on soon for AoS, I suspect that the tree spirits are being repackaged with round bases in prep for it.

That's a pretty rad custom Treeman Ancient - and it lets you make a normal Treeman out of the rest of the parts from the kit. Good thinking!

Re: Got tired of Nagash killing my Forest.
The question is - do either you or your friend actually have fun playing the way you are playing? There doesn't seem to be any on-board strategy happening, and I can't imagine reducing a tabletop game to a mental exercise where the outcome is inevitable before the first model is placed could be sati...

Re: 40k Datacards in AoS
You could easily do this, yes, and it would make for interesting games. You'd probably need to arbitrate certain things, as you've said, but there's no reason you can't use the cards as a framework and customize a bit to suit AoS games. Try it and see how you like it!

Re: Age of Sigmar: Sylvaneth Wyldwood
Most former factions seem to be made up of sub-factions, each of which has it's own keyword. Even with Aelf being a blanket term for the race, there are still apparently three factions within said force, each of which is very different in tone and apparent leadership. WE are of course Wanderers, pro...

Re: AoS - New units?
Araloth ducked out with that one lady to a hidden pocket realm. Possibly, he'll be part of the Wanderer faction in continuing lore - I wouldn't be surprised if there were actually 3 subsets of Aelf or whatever in the new fluff, even if they could be mix-and-matched. Orion's probably done for, sadly,...

Re: AOS Wood Elf units, strengths/weaknesses
If you take the mounted Lord again, give him the HoD arrow, it's still incredible and with him on a horse you can book it all over the map and get him to where he needs to to fire. In particular, I think it would be great for killing off things like casters, war machines, and other things that have ...

Re: Heads Exploding! Age of Sigmar Rules Released Online
Yeah, these rules are actually great. I threw it up on warseer, but this is the game I thought I was going to be playing when I first got into WHF. I thought my models had more than a wound, that my heroes were actually badasses, that my models were each individually consequential instead of being l...

Re: Best (Foot) Bunker for Characters
I think scouts are the best mage bunker for two reasons: they can shoot, so they can contribute as a block whilst protecting the wizard, and they are also not a high-focus target for your opponent - i wouldn't put a mage in waywatchers for that reason. archer blocks are pretty immobile now and unles...

Lame game for her for sure. I personally would love to use that list against any jerkoff opponent. My friend is always super cocky and as soon as he gets his Skaven army ready which he thinks will school me everytime I think a match with this list is sounding appropriate. against skaven, use wardan...

Re: The least enjoyable game ever!
WE shooting lists are pretty much hard-counters to the current elf armies, because the combination of lots of poisoned, armor-denying, AP longbows will shred anything t3 and kill most high-toughness monsters. the counter to a shooting-heavy force is MSU or MMU, and general target saturation. also, w...

Re: Triumph & Treachery 1200 points
hmm, 200 points of mercs is pretty much nothing, unfortunately. if you're trying to reconcile fluff for your army, remember that wood elves are always diverting their enemies into their other enemies to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. you could claim that the boar boyz are the remnants o...

Re: Triumph & Treachery 1200 points
take shadow on your weaver so that you can reduce the toughness of your targets and make those shots count if your'e concerned about wound generation with them. your best bet is probably going to be to avoid until you can pounce on weakened targets. let your opponents pick each other apart and then ...
