New VC Book
Has anyone fought vs new VC book yet? Any changes to look out for? I can usually beat old VC by fairly reliable tactics of outflank, split enemy, separate and kill general, mop up. Do they still crumble like a Cadbury Flake when the Gen dies?

7th suited me just fine - I don't like it TOO easy! . 8th needs definition.

Actually - I agree re the Razorgors and Minotaurs, I will be converting from Boarboys for Razorgors and buying 'Classic' Minos from elsewhere.

Re: The new beastmen
I'm actually liking the new Beastmen a lot - I was a little cynical at first , but it's a fun list. I'm building a Beasty army as a counter to my (dormant!) Wood Elves and a herd of Ungors look pretty good when assembled - a LOT better than most other model options, unless you want to spend a lot of...

Re: any updated rumours on an outdated AB
Frankly, I would rather they took their time over it. It's got to be a tough nut to crack considering the huge rules changes. Until then, I'm playing other games or going 'Beast'!

Re: Ideas for next WE Army Book
For the Bears, hounds and such, go back to 'Ravening Hordes'- maddeningly I can't find mine. Added a bit of variety, but they have been there. The current dryads and treekin make up for these immensely.

'wildriders: no longer forests spirits' Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Really? Does that mean immune to psychology also lost, or is that kept as Wardancers (still?) have? And lose the wardsave.... damn this. Mine are painted green skinned like Orion. They will look all wrong now.....

Re: Starting a new army for 8th informational guide
One of my hopes is our 'new book' (yeah keep waiting), will recognise the weakness of Glade riders now and 'down points' them. A pity, used to be one of my favourite units. Treekin are now masterful, yes get these. I would favour having more of these and supporting dryads over treemen - you just KNO...

Re: Scouts
I think this comes down to personal style - the Army Book allows you deploy a an all close combat army (Drycha's) or an all shooting one if you really wanted to. If you are playing Orion, that you might want to take scouts as you can't take Way watchers. Not sure how that ill translate so well in 8t...

Re: Waywatchers... Who uses them and how???
I can always find a place for a handful of Waywatchers. 8th may prove a little different but if you enemy fields any heavy cavalry you will cause great frustration, especially as you can deploy for a perfect shot and you may well take out one or two. If you are facing Vampire counts - well, this is ...

Re: Combat Skirmishers
Actually I think we will be stuck with Dryads exactly as they are, or possibly lose skirmish. I don't think the game designers like them used in great force, and the rules change is a nudge to employe larger blocks of standard infantry (GG shooting in two ranks, for example , so a 20 fig unit is pra...

Re: What should our new rulebook look like?
You clearly have not met a Killer Squirrel in full throes! I would see any such swarms as a spite aspect of somekind anyway, just as spites are supposed to manifest as owls etc. (it's in the book...) Besides which, Elves as huntsmen should have hounds, these were part of previous lists. Using such p...

'The suggestion for a cockatrice wasn't a joke.
For one thing, chickens were originally a forest-dwelling species...'
With you there, Killer chickens can team up with the Killer Squirrels.

Never had to face one, but avoiding it and killing squishy things first seems viable, I can tie knights up that way. Can it swivel unlimted on the spot.

'uv got the stomp rules wrong
u just can't stomp anything on a smaller base than urs' - hmmm? That would mean most things that can stomp, can never stomp. Forgive me me as I have yet to purchase 8th Ed, but isn't that nock-about-arrowhead?

Re: Alters now viable??
I may run one - last time I ran one it didn't even get into combat* as I was trying to lurk and jump a hydra, and not get shot up by DE Reapeating X bows. As it turned out never even needed to, Hydra raked by shooting and spells and it was taken out. The lack of total cover would actually encourage ...

Re: What should our new rulebook look like?
'All forest spirits hate opponents with flame.' Yes, yes, yes. I have been considering this for a campaign house rule where I will be GM. I would add Blessing of Ariel should regenerate damage from Flaming, or that we are given a buff for a character or unit to give a ward against flaming. Pipe drea...

Depressing - nice looking unit, very impressive on the field, and yet I have had to have a reason to paint mine. The above analysis is extremely useful however.
Still potential as mage hunters though?

Re: Wood Elves and 8th Edition...
By the way... is there anything about restrictions on type of 'model' you can deploy as terrain or what it should represent? I have two types of woods which we use in 40K games, some are dense fir tree types and do block line of sight, others are more 'Citadel wood' and can be seen through. If the f...
