After having played afew games with both EG and WWR, I'll say "both". They complement eachother very well, just as I thought they would.
However, if I only got to choose one, I'd say EG every day of the week.

Re: Okham's Mindrazor
You answered your own question.
Okkam's Mindrazor is an awesome spell.
I also think that this is cleared up in the BRB FAQ.(including to wound rolls and armour modifiers).

Re: Standard of discipline
So would this boost the Spellweaver's Inspiring Presence by to leadership 10 if the general sits in the unit? The interpretation is sketchy. I would likely consider it cheesy, but is it wrong? This is how I, and everyone I've played with, has played it since 8th Ed. was launched. It's not sketchy a...

Re: Of Orion
Orion vs Kholek isn't even fair. Orion attacks, 5 attacks (+frenzy right? dont got my armybook on me atm). 6 attacks, hitting on 4+ /w reroll = 4,5 hits. Wounding on 4+ = 2,25 wounds. Kholek Suffers 2,25 wounds, has 5,75 wounds left. Kholek retaliates...I'm not even gonna do the math. *Removes Orion...

Re: Dragon Lord or Orion or Durthu?
Orion is cool, but from a competitive view, he's pure garbage. Pure garbage seems an overstatement. Perhaps, but a non-wizard monster with only a 5+ ward (and T5/W5) for 600 points is simply put really bad in my opinion. It might not be the best comparison (but I know of few special char-monsters w...

Re: Dragon Lord or Orion or Durthu?
Orion doesn't look so bad in a straight comparison to the others, but then you have to consider the pointcosts for them: - You can add a lvl 1 Spellsinger in addition to the Dragonlord before you reach Orions pointcost. - You can add a lvl 4 Spellweaver in addition to Durthu, before you reach Orions...

Re: Durthu's Sword...
Compare Durthu's stats to another Treeman Ancient (I assume Durthu is also technically an "Ancient", since he's, you know, ancient.) He's +3 WS, +1 Strength, +3 Attacks (not including Frenzy, which you can attribute to him being Insane.) So there you go. The sword gives +3 WS, +1 Strength...

Re: Dryads, how will they be used?
As ornaments on my shelf. I've been thinking back and forth, but I can't really see myself fielding Dryads with the current 8th Ed. rules. A infantry-block without a musician is bad in itself, and then they compete with Eternal Guard. So yeah, sorry girls, but no. I can see the appeal in using 10 as...

Re: Aaaaand... Nothing's changed
With the last book, I always ran them with a Razor Standard, and at least a Noble (with a Highborn somewhere in my list), so most of those "gains" are actually net=zero. They no longer need the Razor Standard, so that's 45 points saved already. 45 points is hardly net=zero. Plus it opens ...

Re: Sisters of the Thorn +1 for extra rank to others?
Spellweavers & Spellsingers doesn't have the "Deepwood Coven" special rule, so they don't get any benefit from it. Otherwise, one could argue that when a Spellweaver in a unit of sisters suffers a misscast, the unit would suffer D3 wounds with no saves instead of your spellweaver rolli...

Re: Spirit Sword Viability and Implementation
But the Elf is also re-rolling to hit, going first, and sure he doesn't have a 1+, but he moves faster than anything Empire gets, he can even be fast cav. And that 1+ means nothing if the weapon in question is "ignoring armorsave." Empire Lord with Runefang vs Glade Lord with Spirit Sword...

Re: Aaaaand... Nothing's changed
I've argued before that new Eternal Guard are incredibly underwhelming. They're essentially just stubborn spearmen with armor piercing. At least before they got more attacks. But now they're basically the same price (12 points for a 5+) but imo less useful. They're not overwhelmingly awesome, but S...

Re: Aaaaand... Nothing's changed
Personally in the games I've played so far, the army overall feels about the same; we do what we used to do, except better, and in some areas we use other "tools" than we used to. *We still shoot, but better. *We're still manouverable, but in a different way. *MSU and avoidance will still ...

Re: New Wood Elf fluff ?
Not really about the elven pantheon, but some things that made me raise my eyebrows where; 1) Adanhu is now dead ( :( ), leaving only Coedill and Durthu as the remaining ancient-ancients. This on the other hand, puts more pressure on Durthu, and the fluff mentions that he has the power to do great t...

Re: Spirit Sword Viability and Implementation
Compare it to an equivalent. Runefang is the same cost, same no armor saves, the difference is auto-wound vs special rule . So an Empire Lord can do at best 4 wounds to a character or monster. The Spirit Sword character can do at best (assuming they have the same Ld) 24 wounds to a character or mon...

Re: Maybe we're putting the BoL in the wrong place?
Looks as if this character fits perfectly into a unit of WW for my purposes. It's like the Shadowdancer is a bully demanding "lunch money" from gun crews. Remember that you can't Scout with the Waywatchers if you want to join them with your Shadowdancer. (Well you can scout 10" forwa...

Re: Maybe we're putting the BoL in the wrong place?
If I where to field a Shadowdancer, I would probably kit him out for combat (because that's where he'll probably be, most of the time), which means either Glittering Scales (is it legal? He can't take mundane armour) or Potion of Strength + Dragonbane Gem. Glittering Scales are legal on the Shadowd...

Re: Maybe we're putting the BoL in the wrong place?
BoL (+ HoDA) is my defense in regards to my BSB - it means he can stay away from combat. Let's face it; even if you spend those points on getting him a 3+/4++ or a 2+ with one re-roll, as soon as he ends up in combat against a dedicated close combat unit, he will get his skull bashed in either way. ...

Re: Discussion about the new armybook. (units/viability)
Let's start with Lords & Heroes [/u] shall we? (Not gonna include special characters myself.) Glade Lords, 2/5. I see very few reasons to field this guy unless you think he's cool and/or for fluff reasons. The Kindreds and Sprites are gone, so that's that. In the previous armybook, he was our on...

Discussion about the new armybook. (units/viability)
So, finally after all these years, our old armybook got retired. I've had loads of fun with it, and so I say "Rest in peace" to it. Now it's time to welcome the new armybook to the block, and I recall we had a discussion where we graded the units in the old armybook on this very forum, so ...

Hmm, I believe our magi are a touch more expensive than Asur/Druchii equivalents? Our Spellweavers cost exactly the same as the HE Archmage and DE Supreme Sorceress. Our Spellsingers cost exactly the same as the DE Sorceress, and is 5 pts cheaper than the HE Mage. Personally (and quite ironically) ...

I haven't played with the Acorns yet, but knowing myself, I would probably end up getting one wood, that scatters 12" in the wrong direction.
I'd probably go for Book of Ashur + Talisman of Endurance most of the time.

Re: Eagle Noble
3 Warhawks will cost you less than a Eagle Noble, and will probably do whatever he does (unless he's a BSB) much better.
More attacks, more wounds, less susceptible to BS-shooting, and can't be killed by a single cannon-ball.
