Re: Naestra & Arahan the Sisters of twilight
It largely depends what you want from them. If you want something that can be a good portion of a combined attack on a large unit, take the dragon. If you want them to be light support good for taking out small units, causing a nuisance and joining in with a charge of three or four combat units, tak...

So I've been away from things awhile, and since then GW have yet again gutted their site of the useful things. Where have the FAQs gone?

Re: Sisters of twilight on Gwindalor (eagle) alternate
I converted some a while ago, although I did have the actual sister models to go on the eagle. http://asrai.org/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=14979 But despite that, I like the look of the windcutter (is that the name?) eagles from the High Elf chariots and would probably use them and heavily modified gl...

Re: Sisters of Twilight Odds
Or have I been playing 8th wrong and you can't fly while fleeing? That is correct. P70 of the BRB (physical version) - "Fliers always move on the ground when attempting to flee or pursue - there is simply no time for them to take off properly. Note that they still benefit from their swiftstrid...

Re: Sisters of Twilight Odds
I agree with you about the sisters. I love them. The reason they don't work in a challenge in Combat is that any wounds caused against them are still wounds, and so they get slaughtered by combat res. To make matters worse, the eagle stumbles away afterwards at Movement 2. I play against vamps most...

Re: Sisters of Twilight Odds
Yes. T4, 3W, randomised, Gwindalor cannot be hit.
Magic attacks are only slightly better, a 2D6 S4 spell is similar to the 10 S4 bowshots hitting on 3s.

Here's a .xls file.
However, there's no hidden functionality. If you've got MATLAB I can send you the files that generated it, but I can't add them as an attachment.

Re: Sisters of Twilight Odds
I don't really understand how it can be so hard to calculate the odds? I made some easy calculations on how many S3 arrows hitting at 4+ that is needed to kill them. 100 is to much. Got 5,5 wounds each. So it should be around 40-50 arrows. Just some easy mathematics on my mobilephone give me that i...

Re: Wardancers - can they work
I'm afraid to say that Strength in Numbers isn't negated by Woven Mist. Strength in Numbers is all the time, based on how many ranks they have. Woven Mist is only that they can't claim the bonus for ranks, not that they don't have ranks. I think that they could have been fantastic, but have been wea...

Re: Sisters of Twilight Odds
Gwindalor only, but Ceithin Har should have a fairly predictable effect as he comes sort of before the randomisation.

Sisters of Twilight Odds
So I have a fondness for the Sisters of Twilight since I managed to get the two sisters without their dragon in a bitz not-quite-lucky dip once. They were great for a while in 7th when on Gwindalor they could remove ranks on their own, but those days passed. But now they don't seem half bad, given t...

Re: Double Posting and Multiple Topics
I've noticed a couple of instances where the same person has double posted the same post. I'm assuming this is because of the information screen taking a while to load and tell you that your post has gone up. If this is the case, don't press refresh or you'll post twice. Open up a new tab to check w...

Re: The Hounds of Brenin-Armon: An Army Blog
There are skirmishing cavalry now? I've been away from the game for too long. 1. With Trueflight arrows, I wonder if playing a full refused flank might work. Shooting should be able to demolish a couple of units on your opponents flank while moving up closer, and then turning should be easy enough (...

Re: wood elves tournament 8th
Firstly, could you read http://asrai.org/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=26491 and rework your post to remove individual costs (so anything that's not a total cost for the unit). But as for your list, I think it looks like it's going to be one where you win big or lose big. You've got very little by way of...

Regarding the spellsinger/weaver having to have the same kind of magic arrows to join the unit, I think they'll be fine to join. The arrow restriction is on the purchase of the unit, it's not a special rule.

I'd like to add Patrick Rothfuss's The Name of the Wind to the list of must-reads even if it's not that widely known currently. If you have a look over on goodreads it's rated at 4.56 stars on average.

Re: Fantasy series (not author)
Black Library is what I'll do if I get absolutely desperate to be published. More honestly, I can't really tell you the differences as I've not read any Black Library books. I'd say that the bottom level for quality is lower in Black Library and the top level is too. This is mainly because the worst...

I think it's a mixture of it getting worse and timing. I feel like I've been slower off the mark with hunting the bots down recently, don't know about the other mods.
But as Naggie's likely to pop in and say, we haven't found an effective CAPTCHA system yet.

The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss. Only two of the three books so far and Doors of Stone is looking to be quite a way off. But... brilliant. Writing is astounding, pacing is spot-on, subtly intricate, and fantastically well thought-out. The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks and the asso...

I expect someone's dug up old rules for Duurthu and Ariel. Duurthu was part of a White Dwarf campaign based around Heinrich Kemmler, Ariel was put up on the GW website (both during 7th ed.).
