Re: Waywatchers - doing the math

As a fellow long suffering Waystalker/Waywatcher connoisseur I am very happy with the analysis and appreciate the dedication and provided info. Since the new edition, I have used (probably out of habit) a small 5-man unit with Arcane bodkins, with limited success. What I have noticed so far is that ...

Opinions on Wardancer and Waywatcher Command options?

Hi there, During the fine-tuning of my first list for the glorious reincarnation of the Old World, I was left with several points to spare for my 5-man Wardancer and Waywatcher units. As is tradition, I cannot seem to decide on what would be best (besides the obvious Bladesinger for the Wardancers, ...

Re: Is waystalker almost useless?

Played my first game with a Waystalker a couple of days ago, BoL and Swiftstride arrows combo. I am a bit underwhelmed, and at the same time didn't expect to be otherwise. He killed next to nothing (opponent was Dwarfs), but didn't get killed in return, and the Waywatchers I got thanks to his rule p...

I myself am curious how the Waywatchers and Waystalker performed. Particularly the latter, with this unusual gear combination.

Re: AOS Wood Elf units, strengths/weaknesses

Tried my first AoS game yesterday against Dwarfs. Here's my take on the game. - We both tried the "fixed" formations in the warscrolls, using WISIWYG and minimum unit sizes (Wanderer Host for me, Clan Throng for him). That resulted in 42 models/55 wounds for me, 56/60 for my opponent - a g...

Ninth Edition - End Times for real?

A few days late, due to the problems with posting: Good heavens... A lot of very reliable sources of rumors on Warseer have spilled the proverbial beans on the future of Warhammer and the next edition (summer 2015): http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?404065-Warhammer-And-Now-For-Something-...

Re: Khaine: Woodelf Fluff Review

I've read the book, and quite liked it actually. Although I feel that Alith Anar would suit better as a ruler of an united Elven race, given that all of them are now in Athel Loren and keeping in line with his background (demigod) and the major fantasy traits for elves (secretive, bow-loving, forest...

Assistance on picking an autumn palette

Hi folks, I’m returning to the woods after several years of hiatus from tabletop gaming. During this time my gaming group has disbanded, all my paints dried out, and my admittedly mediocre painting skills have probably deteriorated even more. Inspired by the new book, I intend to start again from al...

Re: My first WE list (1000pts)

Hi,

Just a minor point - the overall Hero allowance for 1000 is 25% - yours is 5 pts over.

Other than personally I'd recommend a more MSU approach - 2x10 Glade Guards naked or with Hagbane.

Re: Wood Elves rumours

Why must both the Treeman and Araloth have giant horns? Coupled with the rumoured deer-based cavalry this moves us closer to Beastmen of all people :)

Vanilla Treeman looks much better than other versions, especially Swordmaster Durthu...

Gaining ASF better not be at the expense of ranged rules.

Re: Treeman a liability

I’m running a fairly similar list at 2000 for a year (all-elf one – no Treeman and wardancers instead of Dryads). So far, I have limited success with it, being very difficult to play and all, but given your success I’d be very interested to hear your comments on several points: Why Lore of beasts – ...

OK, sorry for jumping in my defence so late. First of all, thanks for your comments and advice. Perhaps I should’ve been clearer when explaining the list. Caitsidhe , you’re right on all accounts. Stubbornness though is only a part of the set up – as a personal preference I try to stick to a theme i...

2000 points all elf list - yet another attempt

One day my stubbornness for pure elf armies is gonna be the death of me… So, after one year of trying 8th edition with such lists (with limited  success), here is my latest attempt (not playtested): 1 Highborn, Scout Kindred, ahw, Bow of Loren, Enchanted Shield, Arcane Bodkins – 246 (goes with...

Re: 2000 pt - In recovery...

Or is there another good combination to equip the Noble with? Absolutely. My current WE military doctrine is Kamikaze elves: 2x great eagles, 3x5 Wardancers&Champion, 2x5 WW just slamming suicidally into the big enemy units targeting the characters. Rarely works, but it feels awesome when I bea...

Re: 2000 pt - In recovery...

Legomon, can you use both the HoDA and the Ironcurse Icon on the Scout Noble? I don't have my rulebook atm, but I'm pretty sure they are both Enchanted Items. Other than that, your list is quite similar to mine, only that I use BSB with Asyendi's Bane and HoDA in the 20 GG unit with Flaming banner. ...

Re: Asrai Outside of Athel Loren

This is a topic that has been teasing me for a long time. Here's a couple of things that I haven't found anywhere else (keep in mind that everything is just my opinion) : 1. In the new 8th edition rulebook (p.157), it says "A mile from the Elven towers that stand sentinel upon the coast, an arm...

Several rule queries - DE Hydra and scout deployment

One of the major issues with the latest FAQs IMO is the unclear state of the Dark elf Hydra and its Beastmasters. Having read several net discussions, I still find it hard to find an answer for every rule question regarding them. It's clear that you can't target the Beastmasters with "normal&qu...

Re: Empire War Altar and miscasting

Perhaps I should clarify: The argument against the recent FAQ was that the question about the Golden Griffin miscast was already explained in the July FAQ. As a FAQ does not represent an errata or amendment, it should count - removing FAQ entries should not be considered a rule change. IMO this is a...
