Re: Kaese's army (Treeman & friends)
It has been a while since last post. Bought a new house last september and after that most of my time went on renovation. Now I have some free time again. Finished painting another treeman, and third is waiting on the desk. :D Treeman A group shot Also finished up an eagle that has been waiting half...

Nice looking models. I really like the mixed color themes on the glade guard units.

Re: Basing Techniques, Tutorials and Tips?
This is how I do my bases. First I glue some extra bits to some of the bases, usually some branches from extra parts from dryad kit. Then glue on a mix of flock and small stones I bought roughly 10+ years ago. Then paint the bases with few drybrushed layers. After the paint I use a brush to apply PV...

Re: The Red Danes Wood Elves and Sylvaneth. Picture heavy.
The dryad paint job looks nice and especially the glow effect on the eyes and runes. Conversions look promising. I especially like the ranger body with a bow. It looks good and is way easier to do than conversions from shadow warriors. I went that way and they are still WIP  Painting horses is...

If only I could figure out a 'red, white and blue' color scheme that could fit with wood-elves. Good work with your Canadian colors, but... ' M e r i c a ! Bright colors wouldn't work unless you are aiming for the Captain America look. Try breaking the basic colors with small amount of brown. This m...

Re: 9th Age
I agree on hagbane being better than true flight. Also 2pts for swiftshiver looks really cheap compared to other arrows. Swiftshiver will probably be the best choice for riders and scouts. Full glade rider core will be really nice with the ambush rules beign optional. Magic is also big improvement i...

Re: Winter Asrai
what one do you suggest, most look too dark, celestra grey? The base color can actually be quite dark if you want to make more depth. If you start with too light color the end result will still look flat. It is easier to understand this by looking at real pictures. Just try writing "white robes...

I was in a same situation in about eight months ago when I came back to warhammer after ten years. It was all about gaming back then and now I wan't my models to be properly painted. It really helps a lot if you spend time reading about different painting techniques, and there are couple of good sti...

That looks so funny when you have 24x of them waiting in line
It is good to leave small wire under the rider and drill a hole to the saddle, if you dont plan to glue the riders on the horses. It is just so much easier to transport them separately.

Re: Games Workshop Store:
If GW wants to get rid of warhammer, it makes sense for them to push for round bases. If all your models have round bases it will be a lot harder to go back to warhammer. I like the round bases more than square ones. Round bases just look so much better. Still I will be sticking with square bases as...

Re: Kaese's army (Treeman Ancient)
Just finished painting the treeman ancient today. This has been WIP for few months now as I it takes ages to paint everything, especially if the model is fully assembled before painting. Today I had nothing to do so I decided to finish the ancient. It took roughly 10-12 hours to paint the mode...

You can also use pva glue to flatten the chainmail areas. Just apply the glue with brush and flatten it down with a wet brush. Should be quite easy to so but the end result might not be as good as with green stuff.

Re: Advice needed for kitbashing Wood elves.
Shadow warrior box seems to be quite popular for way watcher conversions, especially with wild wood ranger heads. I have one unit waiting to be finished. The hooded head isn't easy to fit and you need to cut off huge part of the hood from the backside. Hawkoon posted some pictures on his blog. http:...

Re: Kaese's army (dryads)
I agree. Dryads are probably the best looking unit in our army if done this way. And only minimal painting skills required.

Its good to see somebody actually experimenting with the colors with photoshop. For me the realistic colors for wood elves have always been different shades of browns and greens...

Here is the first completed batch of Dryads. I have 10 more waiting for basing, so I should have 20 Dryads ready by the end of the day.
Edit: The edges of the bases needs some black paint

Re: First model from a batch of Dryads :)
That is really good to know that spay varnish wouldn't soak up the foliage in a way that it would ruin the looks. I also have some dryads (48  ) in the pipeline and I have had some concerns on how the transportation will affect on the foliage. Hopefully this varnish "trick" will help...

Dryad horde (WIP)
Finally had some spare time to work on the miniatures. Summer holiday and rain means that eventually there is time to sit down and start to paint. :D After the branch wraith conversion I wanted to make a horde of dryads. First I did a few test models to see if it would be easy to make a the models l...

Re: Heads Exploding! Age of Sigmar Rules Released Online
I'm not trying to say the game is bad without the point system for balancing the armies. It looks like it can be a lot of fun with people that share the same idea of a fun game. I just don't understand what GW was thinking about when they invented this game  Big part of the older player would ...

Re: Heads Exploding! Age of Sigmar Rules Released Online
The lack of point system is really bad considering the fact that this is no role playing game. This basically means no competitive gaming unless somebody is willing to do complete unit balancing system. I really cant see any future in this new game system unless GW includes some type of point system...

Re: Treeman/TMA questions
Only way I see any use for it is to play the treeman as a charge absorber. You can get two chances at shooting the enemy if your treeman in a situation where the opponent is either going to have high chance of failing the charge or just move closer. Still the D6+1 shots makes it unreliable. I usuall...

They seem to be using a selective laser sintering printer, so they don't need to print supports that usually ruin most of the details. The bad thing is the accuracy is not enough for details in this scale. I think you can get desent quality models if you are willing to do some extra work to smoothen...

Branch Wraith conversion

Re: Tips and Tricks for Painting Rune Stones?
Just remember to use watered down paint for the glow effect, so that the original surface is still visible. This is extremely important if you try to extend the glow effect farther away from the source. The mix should be something like 1:10 or even 1:20. I tried this on a sister of thorn model few m...

Re: P&M Challenge (conversions and unit-fillers) [Yuri Wins]
Do you mean my entry?
I painted it about a week ago, but there are still some finishing touches to be made. Base isn't complete and the matt varnish I have on it is more semi-glossy. I will have to buy a bottle of anti shine. After that I will post the pictures for you to see for sure.
