Re: Frostgrave & Otherworld Fantasy Skirmish
Cool suggestions Monkey, I have been in the mood for a game like these. I found some reviews for Frostgrave - which has a very Mordheim vibe - but I was having trouble finding more specifics on Otherworld. Could you tell me more about it? I got the impression it would play like a gridless D&D. I...

Re: AoS Point Cost Algorithm!
I always felt constrained by GW's point values. They never felt right. I much prefer me and my opponent looking at each other's deployment and agreeing that things look balanced. However I admit I play with friends and things are usually civil. I can imagine things get much harrier once a tournament...

Re: Games Workshop Store:
I'm no longer aghast about GW prices. People keep trying to convince me to play Warmachine/Hordes because they say it's cheaper. I just checked Privateer Press website. The price for their starter sets are $50 each. Each starter set has from three to five models. Ever wonder what the hobby would be...

Re: Age of Sigmar SDK
You can use wounds, you can use algorithms. But at the end of the day just using your gut will get you farther/faster. Many models just have a combination of special rules you just can judge by stats alone. Certain synergies are just going to make certain units waaay more efficient than other units....

Re: Games Workshop Store:
I think you are safe, they are showing up in the US store.
Word is the forest spirits are going to show up in the next campaign book. So maybe they are just repackaging them with round bases or something? But I'd be patient, they will almost certainly show up.

PPan

Re: Heads Exploding! Age of Sigmar Rules Released Online
I find it interesting that 8e was a point-based system that had many complaints about how GW pointed it. People online discuss how to repoint them only to disagree on how to do so from one army forum to the next. Now GW has decided to leave it to us to determine what a fair game is and the first th...

Do to procrastination, my wood elves are still not ready for the table. I wanted to hear about the warscroll that lets your army ambush. Can someone share their experience using it? Is it as good as it sounds?

Re: Heads Exploding! Age of Sigmar Rules Released Online
Certainly after 25 games you guys have a decent idea of what it takes to bring down each other's units. All this building lists based on wounds is rubbish. It might get you in the ball park but you've got to take into account units with exceptionally high defensive or offensive capabilities. Hell, y...

Re: Kings of War
As razorfate said, wound just keep accumulating on a unit until they rout. Its sort of like your leadership checks and wound deduction rolled into one package. Im not sure if anyone mentioned this but any unit in KoW can hold a magic item. This means that any unit can be given a specialized function...

Re: AOS Wood Elf units, strengths/weaknesses
Ever since I read the shadow dancers bridge of shadows spell I've wanted to see some wild riders fly 24" + run into my friends organ gun. Or see some warhawk riders catapult 32" across the world and do the same. I can picture his face now...

Re: Heads Exploding! Age of Sigmar Rules Released Online
Kings of War is pretty good! Dig around on the mantic forums and you should be able to find a beta copy of the 2nd edition rules somewhere. I'm really liking Age of Sigmar. I think it will be a big motivator to getting my wood elfs back in working order. Sort of like how the battlescrolls give you a...

Re: 1500 points against Ogres
Man, Ogres vs Woodies sounds like a fun time! Yeah, those waywatchers should shred up those mournfang. Without their armor they tend to drop like flies. Watch out for those Ogre Scouts (They are called Maneaters). He can deploy them very close and they certainly pack a punch. Most of all, watch out ...

Re: Kings of War
Hey All, I finally did commit to my woodies. I absolutely love those wild riders! I even bought this really neato giant owl model from CoolMiniOrNot. Anyway, I dont know if anyone cared but Mantic has just about finished their playtest for their 2nd edition rules for Kings of War. So far I'm really ...

Re: Kings of War
Oh, I started buying wood elf boxes a few months ago. The thought was if 9th edition ends up sucking I would have everything I needed ready to go. If 9th was awesome and the elf aesthetic changed drastically then the plan was to sell them on ebay or something. Or maybe use them as stand-ins. I dont ...

Kings of War
Hey All, So I have a bunch of wood elf models sitting uponened in boxes. I just cant bring myself to commit to building this army until I see what GW does with the model ranges and 9th edition. But I have found a shimmer of hope. Me and my friends have started playing a game called Kings of War. Rig...

Re: 2000 pts Fantasy League
Kudos IGMatthew, I really like the looks of this list. I think I will shoot for something like this for my own 2000 point army! I primarily play against dwarves. What would you all suggest tweaking to fight them? My gut instinct is go have my spellweaver go Metal and then substitute one (or both) of...

Re: Look out Sir!
In the BRB in the look out sir section it states that you need 5 models of rank and files. Period. Nowhere it states otherwise for monstrous infantry/cavalry. Here the need for Ogres (which have ONLY montruous infantry) for a special feature. Why should they need it otherwise? This is correct. The ...

My experience with warhammer was just the opposite. I started out with ogres and decided to pick up wood elves for a change in pace! 500 Point List - Getting Started with Wood Elves
Hi All, I am currently working on getting my first wood elf list together. Here's what I was thinking: Spellsinger(Heavens, Lvl 2) - 115 pts 12 Glade Guard(Hagbane Arrows) - 180 pts 5 War Dancers - 75 pts 5 Wild Riders - 130 pts Is this a good list to get myself off the ground? My primary opponents ...

New to Wood Elves ~ Hello!
Hello all! Just picked up my first box of wood elves the other day. Very excited to pick up this army! Decided to answer some of those new member questions, in no particular order: I started playing fantasy a few months ago. Wood elves was my first impulse, but their reputation for being a difficult...
