Re: 9th age Woodies are out! Lets discuss!
Oncebitten wrote the beastmen book also for bonus info. I really really like the beastmen book. Its got an interesting style and stays true to the theme. That might contribute to my disappointment at woodies. They seem really bland in comparison to the way beastmen have been changed. That said, a f...

Re: 9th age Woodies are out! Lets discuss!
I'm not too happy with it. Haven't had an in depth look but it seems to have robbed wood elves of their identity. They're no longer the best shooting army in the game with high mobility built in. I'm not sure they're going to be all that fun to play either. Also a small gripe but people keep claimin...

Re: 2.5 pt against ogres need input
Hellheart is d6x5" range.
Also, it may not be the style in your meta, but I've always thought bringing death magic when you know it's a battle with ogres isn't fair. Purple sun will wreck his army, and I can't see you having too much trouble if you bring a deathweaver.

Re: REPOST: Winter Basing Tips
Im doing my woodies with a winter theme as well. I get a nice fluffy snow look by going a mix of pva to white paint (Roughly an 8:1 ratio of pva:paint, possible more, you dont need all that much paint) and using that mix to glue on modelling snow (I use gw stuff for convenience but Im sure there are...

I think its an improvement in general, but will struggle with some changes for a while. Just oversights and working out issues, like how at the moment Regrowth is remains in play and can be dispelled. The possibilities are good though

It's actually d6 x 5". So it's less predictable and depends how much of a risk you're willing to takeHyarion wrote: Beware of any Ogre wizards with a hellheart, I believe it's range is 24".

Re: Sisters of the thorn
I may be misinterpreting what you guys mean by "randomising", but when a unit with a character is hit by shooting and it has less than 5 rank and file models, hits are allocated not randomised.

Re: 2000 point WE army vs Skaven friendly games
Ward save on your mage would definitely be good, and lore of shadow will be useful for debuffing the enemy. Main advice would be that eternal guard usually won't do all that much in combat (unless you get withering off vs ghe unit they are facing) but as they are stubborn they arr great chances to h...

I don't understand how people think inspiring presence works for unmodified leadership? The faq specifically says its not applicable as it is from outside the unit.

Re: Magic Idea
From my reading of it, you can't use the general's leadership, but you can use the leadership of characters in the unit. And it doesn't actually say it prevents it from being modified by spells or something like that. Etc comp faq agrees with you that it cant be taken down by spells, but thats not n...

Re: Magic Idea
"unmodified leadership" doesn't actually mean it hasn't been modified. Its one of those gw logic things... According to the faq: "your unmodified leadership is the highest leadership characteristic in the unit. So the leadership from any characters in the unit itself (but not from out...

Re: 1000 Point T&T List
If you want a strong as possible list you could be a terrible friend and take a light council with beastmen herdstone mercenaries... I may or may not have done that once. Only thing I'd say to look out for is look at the rules and determine how you'll play them. Like in T&T if you charge a unit ...

Re: Fire on the March Question
Billthesurly, sisters of the thorn have unique javelins, they are poisoned and armorial armour piercing, but don't have quick to fire. Kinda like how eternal guard have the only spears in the game that grant an extra fighting rank even on the charge.

Re: Fire on the March Question
Fast cav suffer the "normal" penalty and quick to fire do not suffer the "usual" penalty. Seems pretty clear that this is referring to the same moving and firing penalty, and I don't see any reason fast cav would override quick to fire. Really seems clear cut tbh.

I've considered beasts, but I dont see it as all that effective. Wyssans and curse of anraheir are great, but I think the rest of the spells work best with multiple combat characters.

Skirmishers with Different Base Size
Any of you guys know how placing a character with a base size that doesn't fit with a skirmishing unit works? I'm thinking specifically of branchwraith in wwardancers/scouts/waywatchers. In a normal formation the 25mm branchwraith would have to be placed to the side of the unit, but I'm not sure if ...

Power drain they dont lose their level, like our Sisters of the Thorn they take d3 wounds instead of rolling on the miscast table. Unlike our sisters they get their ward save
against those wounds.

Re: Spell thieving sword or Miscast 10 - 12
Pretty sure with miscast they take d3 wounds which they get their ward save against. Spellthieving sword is an interesting question. The unit is treated as a level 2 wizard but I don't know if they would lose a spell.
