Re: Some Wood Elves Being Eliminated!
This is a hard time for Wood Elf collectors, and while it's easy to just look at AoS and be like, "it sucks," doing that won't bring the old army back. I agree with pretty much everything overtninja said. Like it or not, AoS is the future for GW, and when you view things under the light of...

Bummer. Thanks for the heads-up! Wish they'd gotten a replacement ability...Jezandu wrote:Duraska - you need to delete you wild rider scroll on the app and reload it. You'll find that it has a picture and in the description the Orion rules have been dropped.

Re: Speculation on "New" elf models
One thing I am wondering about, the Wild Riders (who did "survive" the cuts) still have mention of Orion on their Call of the Hunt ability. This appears even in the latest warscrolls in the Age of Sigmar app (where they're called "Wanderers" instead of Wood Elves). Orion, as we a...

Re: Any more Asrai left in these woods?
I tried getting into AoS, but my last couple games have just been one-sided nightmares. It's hard to have a game that feels tactical anymore, but maybe that's just my experience. I've stopped the hobby pretty much. I still have models that need painted, but I have no passion/drive to do that anymore...

Re: Some thoughts on Age of Sigmar
To me, the biggest failing of Age of Sigmar is when you try and do "pick-up" games with strangers. Half the time you'll either bring a way stronger list, and feel bad as you crush your opponent, or you'll end up playing a guy who drops nagash and a bunch of VC troops that are absolutely in...

Re: 9th Age; Background and Theme
I'll take a stab at this. I'm basing my answers pretty much exactly off how the Wood Elves were portrayed in their 8th (and 6th) edition books. Ideally, I'd like to see a mix of the two. Adjectives: Neutral, Natural, Skirmishers, Mysterious, Xenophobic "Best representation" Special charact...

Re: Ideas for new Wood Elves AoS - Formation
There's obviously not an official formation for "The Wild Hunt," though I love the idea. You can already sort of do it though by using the warscrolls you're talking about, because they kind of have a synergy already: Orion synergizes with the Hounds (can summon them), and has a command abi...

Re: Games Workshop Store:
Unless you really want to re-base all your models, I would recommend that you do not. AoS is every bit as playable with square bases as round, and I still use movement trays for units with 10+ models just to keep the movement phase from taking forever (I just ignore the tray and move each model indi...

Re: AoS Point Cost Algorithm!
What about models that do more than 1 damage per successful wound roll. What about rend? Ironguts do 3 damage per hit at -1 rend, and using your formula, they're only 22.75 points a model. Meanwhile a single Glade Rider is 24 points? Uh.. I'd take the Ironguts every time. I think it's a lost-cause t...

Re: AoS Point Cost Algorithm!
How do you calculate the points of models that have a d3 or d6 statistics (ex: Ogre Leadbelchers have d3 attacks, and d6 attacks if they dont move)? Also, how do you calculate the damage-table stats for monsters (where the stats vary based on damage taken)?

Re: AoS strongest shooting unit?
Now if you apply the point cost algorithm to both models, the Waywatchers are 11points per model and the Glade-Guard are 6pts per model. So both damage-output and point-cost are both nearly 2:1, and 2 glade-guard for every 1 waywatcher would be a fair fight. I really think special rules were design...

Re: AoS strongest shooting unit?
I was curious about this so I did some math-hammer. Turns out, 20 waywatchers will ALWAYS out-perform 20 Glade Guard (even when you factor in the GG's once per game -3 rend attack). Here's the average number of wounds you'll inflict against an enemy (after they make their saving throw) using each op...

Re: Old Glade Lord model
On the GW website, the Treemen are just "temporarily out of Stock." So either they sold out due to being a pretty powerful warscroll, or GW is bringing out the next batch with round bases. I do not believe they'll re-vamp the Treeman/Durthu model at all. This is still a very new model, and...

Re: New Glade Lord model
Yeah. Unfortunately the negative side of me has come to believe we'll never see a new "Wood Elf" model again. I think there might be some "Life Aelf" faction or something down the road that is distantly related to what we have now, but I think the days of the Wood Elf model range...

Re: New Glade Lord model
Dryad and Treelord (Treeman) now appear under the "Sylvaneth" faction. They no longer appear under Wood Elves. The model for the Glade Lord is just the old female Noble with Spear (a great model, btw, wish they still sold it). It appears in the past 2 Wood Elf army books. Btw... the specul...

Re: AOS Wood Elf units, strengths/weaknesses
Anybody else notice the Glade Lord on a Great Stag has Bravery 7 while every other Glade Lord has Bravery 8? Intentional or typo? I think that's a typo, but it doesn't really make a difference because single models never take Battleshock tests anyway. I've also noticed that in the Wandering Host fo...

GW is a company that tries to sell a single plastic circular base for $6.50 USD. So yeah, I'm sure Dryads will come back at a premium.

Why are they charging extra for champions? They are upgraded for free. They should be free, 9 times out of 10 I forget to give them their extra attack! I ran a 50 wound Ogre army my buddy runs through this point system and it came out at around 850-some points. Then I ran a 50 wound (and much...

Re: Heads Exploding! Age of Sigmar Rules Released Online
For all GW's talk about "all rules will be free forever." The fact that the warscrolls for the new models aren't available for free download yet is starting to make my GW-crap detection system buzz. There is a free mobile app coming out sometime soon by GW that is supposed to have all the...

There is a "warscroll" for it in the PDF that has the scenery rules. http://www.games-workshop.com/resources/PDF/AoS_Compendiums/warhammer-aos-scenery-en.pdf As for if you can include it with your army... yes, if your general is Durthu he can place a Sylvaneth Wyldwood during each of your ...

Re: AOS Wood Elf units, strengths/weaknesses
Eternal guard have a 5+ save. If you have them in a forest(+1), using Fortress of Boughs (+1), and have a spell-weaver cast Mystic Shield (+1) you can get a 2+ save, re-rolling the 1s and 2s with the glade-shield. If you wanted to cast Shield of thorns as well, you could even re-roll the successful...

Re: AOS Wood Elf units, strengths/weaknesses
Has anyone experimented with Sisters of the Thorn and their Shield of Thorns spell? It seems really good to me... Shield of Thorns The Sisters cause crawling brambles to burst from the ground and form a living barrier around their allies. Shield of Thorns has a casting value of 6. If successfully ca...
