Re: What the hell happened?

I'd definitely be interested in more info on the rpg :) RE: Southend tournament, we've just had some info through - all 16 core races, plus Chaos Dwarfs and HotEK all represented, which is really something. I also have my first match up against beastmen - been playing 12 years and they're the only r...

Re: What the hell happened?

Watching the devastation of my hobby broke my heart a little, but actually there has been something of an 8th resurgence of late (at least locally). There are 3 8th tournaments/league events within an hour of me scheduled this month alone (am doing 2 of the 3). There are 30+ players at the Southend ...

Active 8th players/league/tournament scene UK Midlands

Not sure if anyone's listening in the disturbingly empty glades, but I've stumbled across an active group of gamers based in the midlands (Worcester, Northampton, Peterborough, Birmingham). Took the asrai to a tournament this weekend just gone (and won 1st!). There's a good spread of abilities and a...

First game against host of the eternity king

I've just had my first game against a new opponent - he brings a host of the eternity king with lots of small units of sea guard, reavers, a few units of darkshards, swordmasters, cold one cav, and wild riders. Interesting to see the elves together and how the armies work as one, but I'm not convinc...

I would have a report for you myself today, but opponent conceded turn 2 so not much of a report! Another game tomorrow so will hopefully have one then.

Been watching these guys for a while now. Quite enjoyable batreps but this is their first time fighting wood elves!

Empire vs Vampire Counts (3000pts): The Watchtower Apologies for the long absence - we are finally settled in our new home, and our gaming room is finally complete! Re: Swiftshiver in small table

Swiftshiver would probably be a good move, but would rather depend on what's generally on the other side of the table. I'd stick with hagbane if your opponents like monsters or if you fight a lot of high toughness. Try it out and let us know how you get on!

Re: Back - i think!

Good to see you back! Asrai has been quiet :(

We're still playing the odd game of 8th, though there is increasing pressure to give AoS another go from one of our friends. Our house purchase is going through, so hopefully come May after the building works our new gaming room will be up and running!

And the forest shall lead you home

Well, most of my life is still packed in boxes in 2 rooms while my husband and I are relocating, but somehow we managed to unearth enough stuff to play 2 games (8th) today. I convinced him to use my elves for the first time after 8 years of him lamenting their lack of armour and devious nature, and ...

Thanks to all for the hard work on keeping Asrai alive and kicking. Sadly, all my stuff is currently in boxes while I move house, so I will be hobbying vicariously through you all for a while.

Ah, never knew that RE: Vanguard, but then I'm normally lining up for later charges T1, or getting behind the lines, so the situation wouldn't come up much. Thanks for the feedback. The rangers were absolutely incredible - I only got to attack with 15 or so of the horde and the skellies were already...

Re: Age of Sigmar to get points system

I've been following the ensuing storm on facebook. AoS players mostly seem to be against the move, and the old cohort just aren't interested. The front page of their website is selling what looks like fantasy orcs with mega armour (I actually dread to think what new "aelves" will look like...

The King & Queen in the Woods vs The Lord & Lady of Death

As the season neared it's end, Orion could feel his blood begin to slow. In these times of unending war, he had always died in battle, which was as it should be. Now the leaves had begun to fall, the Wild Hunt had begun the return journey to Athel Loren, but where usually he was borne wounded and d...

Not faced it for a couple of years, but the spells are pretty great - the casting value is just overcosted.

Re: [8th] Wood Elves vs Tomb Kings

I don't know about Nehekara lore but if smiting is +1A it won't affect shooting on his archers. Shooting in always 1 shot unless the multi shot rule is there like our special bow of loren that allow us A on profile +1. So you would have had plenty more GG alive. If I remember correctly, Incantation...

Looked like a really fun game. Did the dragon get to use his breath weapon at all? It's so low strength it's hardly game changing, but worth remembering it's there!

Re: Battle Report (8th) - Vampire Counts vs Dwarfs

Thanks LiveWaaaaagh. The thunderers were one of the first units he put down, but he soon realised I was going to be deploying very compactly, and they kind of ended up on their own. I've talked with him about additional combat oomph with this army, and he argues (quite rightly) that thunderers are b...

Re: Battle report (8th): 3000pts Empire vs Wood Elves

1. Waystalker achieved (and generally achieves) very little more than a waywatcher. My purpose for him is the shadow magic attribute: I use it sometimes to get my lv4 out of the line of fire, or to a more useful position once the shooting threats have been taken care of, so essentially an escape rou...

Thanks for the write up, even if it wasn't wood elves playing. My hubby is getting a bit sick of facing the wood elves, so thought I'd give him a break! Next batrep will be fluff based wood elves to make up for it!! What do you think about the iron drakes? Would he have been better off getting more...

Re: Reincarnating Ariel - 8th Edition

What unit type would she be? I was thinking of having her as MI on a 40x40 base - will wait and see when the model arrives I think. If playing to win I would have second thoughts about putting 400pts into a model whos only real defense is ethereal. Although with life magic she can heal herself and ...

The four horsemen have sallied forth from the realms of hell, summoning the starts of their undead legion to wipe the living off of the face of the old world. Characters (and one unit) on Parade

Was setting up my vampires for a game today (battle report to follow) and decided to take a few snaps while waiting for the board to be set up - came out much better this time than my last attempt, so some I've posted before, but you can see them a lot better here! Bit of a random assortment from my...
