Re: Bow of Loren stats
I do think it's possible. To me it's quite clear too and here's why. The arrows modify the profile of the bow, so the bow gets the Multiple Shot (2) special rule The bow states and I quote "The wielder of the Bow of Loren may make a number of shooting attacks equal to their Attacks characteris...

Re: 1,000 points for Breakpoint
Not surprised the Ancient was a beast, although it sounds like it's definitely worth "going big or going home" when it comes to magic levels. If you're going to take an Ancient at 1k, go the whole hog and give him extra levels :D I suspect unit sizes will still work best as they were in 8t...

Re: Hello from the Ambassador of the Asrai Italian Community
Welcome to the forest Avalon! Lots of good discussion points you've raised. Personally, I think the enchanted arrows discussion is a bit more nuanced than a straight-up comparison, and depends quite strongly on the playstyle used and the opponent you're playing against. My personal preference is for...

Re: TOW: First thoughts on Dryads
I think Morten just wants to go back to 5th Edition  I think 4th out of the 5 Core choices is probably about right, unfortunately. Dryads are worse than they were in 8th Ed. WHFB; Glade Guard, Scouts and Glade Riders have all got better. There's probably still a use for them as a speed bump uni...

Re: I made a list....
Few comments on your list, Fitz: - I love that Dragon lords seem to be making a comeback; I am a little surprised at the popularity of Merciw's Locus - are strength buffs that common in TOW that they need to be guarded against? I'd personally prefer a Talisman of Protection for the ward save. Even t...

Re: Wardancer Throwing Spears
I'm fairly convinced the only reason it's an option is purely down to the fact that there are various Wardancer models equipped with spears, rather than any actual gameplay reason!

Re: Noble builds
If I'm interpreting the rules correctly, you can't take Armor of Destiny The rule is that only a model equipped with, or with the option to equip, armour or a shield (or barding) can take a magical version. It doesn't specify that you have to have heavy armour to take magical heavy armour (although...

Wardancer Throwing Spears
Triggered a discussion about this on discord, so thought it was worth bringing it up here as well to see what opinions everyone has. So, the question - is it ever worth taking throwing spears instead of additional hand weapons on Wardancers? ~~~ My own take is that we should be aiming to get every W...

Re: Bow of Loren stats
That would be awesome, although I still think incorrect (or at least, not what is intended, so it will get FAQ'ed)godswearhats wrote: ↑05 Feb 2024, 13:36 Note, I also changed my opinion after researching all the relevant rules. I think it's Armour Bane (2), Magic Attacks, Volley Fire.

Welcome (again) Hamzah! Good to have you here, amazing to see someone collected Wood Elves for the first time thanks to TOW. As you know by now, the site is starting to become active again after so long dormant, but there's plenty of wisdom and sage advice to be found from days of old. Hopefully the...

Re: Modeling characters on mounts
I'd imagine we'll end seeing at least a couple of new characters when the WE get their TOW release (maybe later this year?) because there are quite a few options that don't have models. I think most (if not all) of the mounted nobles/highborns that have models could be magnetised or pinned to any of...

Re: Bow of Loren stats
I'd expect this will get an FAQ, because I can see both interpretations. "Counts as" and is an Asrai longbow amount to the same thing as far as rules are concerned, IMO, as I think that's the bit that implies it doesn't get Armour Bane twice - because it is an Asrai longbow, that's where t...

Re: Modeling characters on mounts
Bit of a tricky one to answer, as there aren't many mounted WE character models in the first place, and they're quite hard to get hold of if you don't have them already. If you have one of the stag/eleven steed mounted characters, you could potentially magnetise it to work across all mount options. ...

Re: Deepwood Scouts vs. Waywatchers
I have a feeling Waystalkers will become more useable once our Arcane Journalcomes out, and they have a better selection of magic items to choose from. Right now I'm not sold on whether Waywatchers justify taking the Waystalker needed. As noted, Ambush isn't great so on balance I think Scouts offer ...

Re: Glade Riders rule question
You'd only get the benefits of the formation the unit is in at the time, I think. You can't be skirmishing and open order at the same time, you'd have to change from one to the other I believe.

Re: Returning for The Old World - New list, same 6th ed feel
Personally, I think this is an interesting list. I think having no anvils can still work, as our maneuverability *should* mean we can pick and choose fights, and positions units in such a way that hammers don't need an anvil to hold enemies in place. As far as arrows are concerned, I personally feel...

Re: An appeal to veteran Glade Lords
A great suggestion. Believe it or not, we did once have such a repository (The LEAF - L ibrary of E ducational A rticles F eature) containing the collected wisdom from several editions of WHFB. Regrettably it was lost in domain move, but we will be working on getting it back. In the meantime, the Gl...

Re: TOW: First thoughts on new army-wide rules
To be honest, they've never been a competitive choice. They're kind of an anomaly in the list, as hammer-and-anvil isn't typical WE playstyle. I don't think that's changed much in TOW.

I'm just happy it's still here after all these years. The old sub categories were fine so if they could be reopen for TOW, that would be great That's the goal, I think. I created a catch-all TOW category to get us started, and to get an idea exactly how much activity we get, rather than creating al...

I'm still undecided whether to go down the full rebasing route, or just convert some movement trays and get my hands on a bunch of those 3D printed base adapters I'm seeing!
