Returning to Woodies
Hello all. I used to be a fairly serious WE player but have since been drawn away by the ranks of Empire and the VCs. However I have now returned to my roots..... However I have recently been reading a bit about the Woodies in 8th – spurred on by Michael Biggs’ article in Unseen Lerker and then by t...

Re: The General, The Dancer, The Rider and the Assasin
I agree with Frimbleglim this is far from an optimised list but looks fun and covers most of the troop types with which to learn with. All I would add is you don't have a BSB - which, especially in this edition of warhammer, is something that it is worth getting used to using. Depending on how you u...

Dusting off the Woodies
Hello all, I have not posted on this forum for a long time - I think my 7th Ed review was my last main post - a long time ago. I am afraid the bright lights of the Empire drew me away (well the cannon flashes and big ranked units!). But I am dusting off my woodies for a look at how they work in 8th....

Re: In the Dead of Winter (2000pts)
Not bad, the winter theme holds its own. A few comments: I would switch the banner of midwinter and warbanner around - it is much easier to kill the BSB than the eternal guard's SB so make the points safer. Overall however I wouldn't put the BSB in the eternal guard - he is too easy to kill to be in...

Re: What makes sense in a Winter Themed army?
Well let us see it when you do...
Also remember that some people do just paint their armies one way and then play what ever they like. After all if you have the ability to paint with white (something I haven't figured yet!) then it may just be worth to go for it....

Re: What makes sense in a Winter Themed army?
Not really no - not without making so many changes you may as well write a completly new list!
I guess the question is are you looking for a reason to justify painting the army white (because it looks better) or are you looking for an army with a background??

Re: What makes sense in a Winter Themed army?
Wild Riders shouldn't be taken really - on pg 13 in the betrayal it talks about how Coeddil and his dryad's and how the wild riders were 'dulled by winter's grasp and their blades could not pierce Coddil's thick hide'. Saying that I guess that this story does show that with alot of effort a treeman ...

Re: Official FAQs posted (including the WE one)
First off well done GW, there are some inconsistances (ie Arch Lector allowed bound items and the treeman ancient not) and a few more questions (can a fantic cross the road?) but ultimatly I wanted clarity and that is what you have delivered. Cheers GW. I think this is going to change the way a lot ...

Re: The Fluttering Leaves of Autumn 2000pts
I am assuming that the wardancer lord is set in stone.... Pewrsonally I don't think that the banchwraith is worth the points unless they can have AoN, which your lord needs. Thereofore perosnally I would go for a swap with a level two mage with Callighor's stave (lose the GG musos for the extra poin...

Horse mounted displacment
Does a Horse mounted charecter displace 3 or 2 models on 20mmx20mm bases?????
I always though he replaces 3 as the base is 50mm long so 2x20mm and the remaining 10 therfore means he dislaces a 3rd. But I have seen several list dropping only two models from the unit......
Cheers for the help!

I am sorry to say I disagree completly with you MortenLarsen. However this thread was to get comments on a list assuming that there are such a thing as a 'beardy' list. So if you wish to start another thread on this explaining your position - I think mine is set out reasonably well in the link above...

Okay firstly and probably something I should of said to begin with - nice list. Secondly I would still give some thought to the treekin suggetion.... On the list itself just a few suggestions. You have a rare slot free and so - under Yaks law - I would suggest an eagle. Eagles are great and can easi...

Just to throw a cat among the pigeons (hopefully before you sit down) I have always thought that having only one unit that really can utilise the BSB makes the BSB a bit expensive. However I hate the 2nd treeman list! So I have been trying a unit of 4 treekin, with pretty good results. As long as th...

Hyarion: On the ES and HotH you are right. That is a typo and thanks for pointing it ouy (my real list, that I typed up to be on here, doesen't have the Enchanted Shield) The BSB, unfortunatly, can't have a shield. Also as a Cav base is 50 deep to our EG 20mm square bases I thought he does take up t...

Okay so the common thought here seem to be that the list is okay. One person voted otherwise but hasn't posted to explain - would be good if you could. Therefore I have spent a bit more time refining the list. I have changed a few things. Firstly I have changed the Lords equipment to include the Daw...

Intreging that the first list is not seen as beardy, I think it looks horrible..... well what do others think??? To answer a couple of questions: but different 3 (dragon, warhawks, eagle) fliers is a lot of points, drop the warhawks for some more core The problem is that I only have 12 glace riders ...

Dragon in a Wood ELVES list. Beardy or not too beardy?
New list posted below Hello all, In a mad moment while I was buying my wood elves I had the strange thought that a wood elve dragon would be great fun. But ever since I lovingly painted it I have only used it once, in a dedicated chasse fest in the following list: Highborn, Stone of Crystal Mere, A...

Nice list I use something similiar myself. I agree with most of the above comments, but personally would take a third scroll for ranu's. After all the stave is not as good now we can't move dice around, plus 4DD and 2 scrolls is just a bit weak for tourny play. With the moonstone/blades choice I wou...

Thanks for the replies Kearrann: Sorry if I didn't make it clear but the 5+W makes EG so much better. The rest of the comment was meant to show that actually the Lord has almost as much protection with the harp as without it now the regen rules have changed. PoA: Firstly already have the war banner....

Cheers for the reply I can see what you mean about the wardancers. But I perfer the 6 and 8 as it means I can use one unit for independent charges (which needs at least 7) and another unit for counter charging to clear the EG and Treeman - which needs far less! As for the lord - well he has 100pts o...

List looks very fast and very unpleasent to me! The only thing I would say is that your BSB should be fine without the ward. After all you are hardly going to commit him to combat but have lots of things to hide behind (or in a wood!) Those 30pts though could get you a muso for the 2nd GR unit and t...

2250pts tourney list with Eternal Guard
Hello all, This list is for the upcoming WPS GT in Nottingham (by upcoing I mean army list submission in a week!) The problem is that there is a dirty dozen catergory so I have toned down my list to avoid playing with a load of really nasty lists and then been shrugged off if I do well! The list its...
