Re: Beginner questions - what to include - options limited
Have you tought about making the army one that works as both High Elves and Wood elves with some of the units? :D I myself enjoy heaving 40-50 bows in my army. Limited to this you should defiantly run a bunch of eternal guard in your bigger lists. I suppose for a 1000 pts run: This is not to competa...

Re: WoC player dabbling with second army - Hello!
Dryads are good in units of ten, there should be a tactica somewhere. They are good at flanking and helping fast out in a bigger combat. They also work as redirectors if you want to bring some redirecting points from the core slot. Their real advantage is "Immune to Psychology". You probob...

Re: 2500 points Forest Spirit themed army
Bring a elf wizard on unicorn. It's within the forest spirit theme, give her Lore of shadow. Do a converting job and you have yourself a dryad riding a unicorn :sexy: This also gives you a place to put say a dispel scroll. Or if you bring wizard as lord... the acorn of ages :D Dryads in venom thicke...

Re: Special Characters
Triple dragon apparently works yes. I am thinking Drycha and Druthu could work well, you want to hide him afterall. I've also tought of bringing a lot of special characters once. Maybe I will bring Drycha, Araloth and Sisters in the same game just to try, but no hopes here. I can't stop thinking how...

Re: Which scenario is the best for WE?
About that list I ran a version of this list myself in a comp. Worked very well against Orks and Goblins. I tabled them, here are some pointers. -The dragonlord actually worked as a countercharge model for me, he got in to combat late, but actually worked as a flanking threat, and made my opponent ...

Re: WoC player dabbling with second army - Hello!
Greetings. Hello and welcome. Wood Elves are a good choice. I play WE, WoC and Empire myself. While chaos are slow and want to get into combat the Asrai are fast and want to avoid combat. You have a nice start for an army there. Make sure to differentiate your glade guards in three ways. Hooded ones...

And why can't this sword also get tests vs multi-wound models? Like Ogres and MC, does not make sense at all...

Re: spirit sword
Yeah, STR 4 is nothing. Combining this character with lore of beasts(Savage Beast or Wyssans) can do wonders with this. I feel like this character needs The other tricksters shard aswell. Because this guys slays whatever he goes for, or dies trying.

Re: spirit sword
Never thought of the spiritsword like that before. Ofcourse one makes another leadership roll. How is this unfair compared to say Rancid Visitations(Lore of Nurgle). And If we start comparing the spirit sword to it's empire brothers, Runefangs and Ghal Maraz. Yeah, seems fairly priced to me. ...

Re: Dealing with large empire units
Depends on what lore you bring and army composition. Dwellers (lore of life) is a great spell for this, as it eliminates half the unit. Pit of shades(lore of shadows) is also a brilliant spell for this. And army composition. If you bring high magic(hand of glory), then you could try bringing a big u...

Re: Strangle root or not?
IMHO I don't bring this. You usually want to charge with treeman, or march and shoot. Then you have to take into account long range and movementpenalty. Your lucky if you kill 1-2 models a game with this attack. The 20 pts are better spent on one waywatcher I think.

Re: Greetings from the North
The theme will be late autumn-winter-early spring with winter most dominant. I wish to use Araloth as my Lord/Glade Captain and a couple of mages to lead the force. I am also considering adding Sisters of the Thorn, Glade Riders, Wardancers and maybe Wildwood rangers. Since the Spirits of the fores...

Re: Special Characters
Worth it: Naestra & Arahan - effective vs any army. but if you play dwarfs or empire, don't bring them, or hide them well. Cannons really hurt N&A. I've used them a couple times, gonna keep bringing them from time to time. Doubt: Durthu - He has more attacks and higher strenght, attacks and...

Re: Friendly 2500 point list. New to Wood Elves
Yup. More Trueflight, less hagbane. I find any combination of these three lores for two weavers is good: Shadow, Heavens, High. Heavens is very beginner friendly and pretty straightforward. Urannons Thunderbolt is particularly good against monsters. The withering (Lore of shadows) is the best ...

Re: so....%50 characters....
Talking multiple spellcaster lists I also think High comes up strong. Shadow and the WIthering will always be a good one. Death can work to our cause yes. And heavens will be good probably even with just the signature spell, but on a lvl 3-4 it's good aswell, urannons thunderbolt hits hard, but so d...

Re: Lore Breakdown
that is indeed correct for death! :D Shadows have been at 10/10 for like forever! I am really starting to like the idea of running two spellsingers in a big enough list. Pick Shadows or High + more or less any other lore and you have a nasty arsenal of spells at your disposal both in early- and late...

Re: Tried Swecomp?
I started reading up on swecomp yesterday. I got three army's and i like to be competitive, with still a bit off fluff favour in my army. And funny enough my typical armies that don't run any "not-worth their points" special characters they end up around a comp score of 9. This happens wit...

Re: Dragon base size
Following the base chart on this page would be a good way to run it if you want to play with it in tournaments: http://etc-events.com/about-etc/etc-rules The rulebook says you use the base the model comes supplied with, or if model had no base, use one of suitable size. This means that if you buy a ...

Actually. RAW as jberrysf says, Conjoined destiny says nothing about them splitting up, as long as they not don't join other units. They are both characters when on foot. Ofcourse they can split up, RAW-wise. That is in fact what the book says. It's correct, and it's ridiculus. HAHAHA! RAI t...

Don't be to quick to write of high magic. Arcane Unforging is not only a sniper spell in disguise :sexy: ,but it eliminates Banner of The World Dragon. Hand of Glory does not only increase BS. Cast it on wardancers or other infantery and they get more movement for charges next turn(and WS for 7-9 WS...

But the waystalker shines in turn 1 with his 5 sniper shots(due to savage beast and BoL). Orion needing +3str and +3 attacks turn one, not so mutch.

Re: Naestra & Arahan on Gwindalor (SOLVED)
Yup. You could do that, there's many interpretations. I'm sure you find posts discussing that. Many come to that conclusion. I am not saying it's a wrong way to do it. Usually ppl give them both 3 wounds aswell(so they hit 3+3). If you look at removing models with multiple wounds, page 45. An interp...
