Re: AoS Wanderers
Love the paint job; but as I play mainly AoS now, I prefer using the small oval bases for cavalry over round ones - still every one to their own!

Re: Basing Techniques, Tutorials and Tips?
I have found a good cheap way of basing for my autumn themed WE is to use "mixed herbs" from a supermarket or similar outlet; just PVA glue to base, allow to dry overnight, shake off access material, then add three or four patches of different browns. Not Golden Daemon standard by miles; b...

Have to agree with Phil on this, Razor Standard Only works in Close Combat; not shooting.

Re: rule q: wyldwoods
The Sylvaneth Wyldwood is a "Scenery Warscroll", in a similar manner to using The DragonFate Dais or Numinous Occulum, etc; this seems to be a new thing in AoS, you buy a "kit" to use with your army, this scenery/terrain piece has its own special abilities/rules which you use to ...

Re: AoS Strategy: Charge and Flee (sacrifice tactic)
Hi "NN", the extra "reform" is only allowed to a unit that has broken cohesion during pile in/losses in combat, we limit it to one unit per turn (the worst affected). The "arbitrary limit" was only introduced to put a bit of a brake on our two main OP Armies (Ogres and ...

Re: AoS Strategy: Charge and Flee (sacrifice tactic)
Hi "NN", I have played about 12 games of AoS now, albeit with the same Gaming Group at my local GW Store in the UK, the only time we have allowed "a break in unit cohesion" is on the pile in, to get the maximum number of models into combat range (of their melee weapon), we then a...

Re: Games Workshop Store:
Must admit I can see the sense of retaining the movement trays when using larger units, typically 15+ for infantry, or 8+ for cavalry. I have decided to keep my Wild Riders and Reavers/Glade Riders on the "old" 25x50mm cavalry bases, only my "hounds" and a couple of mounted Heroe...

Re: Ideas for new Wood Elves AoS - Formation
Hi Gwill,
I like the above; but think it would benefit from a unit or two of the hounds, also this allows you to raise more Hounds, which I think will help in redirection/chaff hunting etc.

Re: Games Workshop Store:
The Store is just saying that the models "look cooler" on round bases, to some extent I have to agree. But there is also the point that having committed to round bases it will be harder to play WHFB elsewhere as the square bases are a must with the older versions of the game. Hence I will ...

Re: Games Workshop Store:
No, not according to the first WD with AoS models in it. However our local GW Store is trying to push players in that direction, I am going for a compromise, ie, if making a NEW unit I will use oval or round bases unless it was a ranked combat regiment (EG/WWR) come to mind, in which case I will sti...

Re: Wanderer host - help
I think you need melee troops not more ranged with that list; how about a couple of Chariots or 5 Hounds of Orion, otherwise I would stick to the Wardancers, three War Hawks could also work.

Re: AoS Point Cost Algorithm!
Hi "NN" I think you have hit the proverbial "nail on the head" here; GW is definitely pushing the "Beer and Pretzels"/new guys end of the scale at the moment! However as sales slow down with the "new toys" becoming a tad less shiny, then I think they will star...

Re: AOS Wood Elf units, strengths/weaknesses
I have found that using "OUR" two types of wizard can be very useful, I have been running a mixed force, so as wizard abilities can only be used on either the Wanderer OR Sylvaneth (depending on wizard type), tend to use Treeman Ancient with Branchwraith support for my Dryads and (new favo...

Re: AoS Point Cost Algorithm!
We have been playing a fun level AoS campaign at my local GW store, at about 5-7 warscroll level, we have about 10 regular players, only two armies have found to be overpowering: A Destruction Ogre Army that contained about 30 Ogres, plus Tyrant and Firebelly; the problem being no cap on the number ...

Re: WotSF Age of Sigmar
I have found Treeman/Treeman Ancient and the "unloved" TreeKin to be really good in AoS, especially when playing in the region of 50-60 wounds, need at least one Sylvaneth wizard, so you can "heal" them; I usually add about 12-15 waywatchers for additional ranged attacks - both t...

Re: Price hike???
Definitely used to be 12 Dryads for £18 (UK) price. There is a price hike but is quite small (in UK at least), you now get 16 dryads for £25, using £1:50 per model (from 12 off) the increase is £1 (per box) in UK. The Guardians of the Wood boxed set has Changed its contents/been repackaged, used to ...

Re: Games Workshop Store:
Had an extremely quick look at the White Dwarf due out this Saturday; in the back the dryads were on pre-order for £25; but as stated elsewhere there are now 16 in the box, so only a minimal price hike (about £1), as they worked out at £1:50 per model when £18 for 12. Absolute Bargain when compared ...

Re: AoS Realms?
The different Realms are reached through the various "Realm Gates", hence the current Battles in AoS are for these gates and thus troop access to these places. The Nine Realms are: Chaos , Heavens where God-King Sigmar and the remaining Good Guys hang out (also where the Storm Host Eternal...

Re: Age of Sigmar SDK
I rather like the idea of the 9 different Realms, with the link to the "old" Winds of Magic (plus Chaos). Can't quite make up my mind if the Skaven should have been left as an independent "Force of Destruction". The on going battle for the various Realm Gates I think is a good st...

Re: Games Workshop Store:
I think, bit of both, last price I paid was £18 for 12 (in UK). My guess is 10 for £20-25 repackaged with round bases. Warscroll gives a benefit for 12+ in a unit and most unit numbers (for infantry) are either 5 or 10. Just hope it won't be £20/25 for Five models! The new Sigmarites are now £30 for...

I agree with Tropic on this, with one caveat, units shoot at an extra -1 to hit on the turn they appear due to the disorientation of appearing suddenly in the middle of a battle; good Rules Jack - well done!

Re: AOS Customized battle scrolls!?!
I am pretty sure the TreeLord/TreeLord Ancient Warscrolls are intended for use when using Sylvaneth in the Battle Plans for The Jade Kingdom (The Realm of Ghyran - Life Magic). IMHO I think 6 points for the Glade Guard in their current Warscroll is not far off, and using that figure each warscroll c...

The other option is to print out in Black and White on single-sided A4 and put two sheets in a single A4 "poly-pocket" then make up your own ring-binder folder. This is what I intend to do soon.

Re: AOS Wood Elf units, strengths/weaknesses
Garmaeron, thanks for the insights, I will definitely go Treeman/Dryads and maybe some TreeKin with a largish unit of waywatchers for ranged support. Anyone have any experience relating to Reavers vs Glade Riders, I think I have read one post giving the edge to the reavers - thanks. Regarding the Sy...
