Re: Age of Sigmar to get points system
The front page of their website is selling what looks like fantasy orcs with mega armour (I actually dread to think what new "aelves" will look like), so for me, at least, the game is already beyond saving. The community has splintered into 8th/T9A/KoW/AoS, and everyone seems to be pretty...

Re: Where to buy special (round) bases?
There is no current base size! Enjoy the Age of Sigh-mar! The only rule is that there are no rules!!! ...well almost none. If its 9th age you're after I believe that its the 75mm by 50mm but you should check in with those guys as I haven't played yet or even given more that a cursory glance to the r...

I like dragon forge quite a bit, tends more towards spacey themes but there might be something you can use. Jeff is a swell guy and very upfront about his casting and shipping times.

That's good, we've sadly seen a dramatic drop off here. No point in practicing for an 8 man tourney.Phil Rossiter wrote:Still playing 8th.

Moving on from 8th
So with the death of the WFB tournament scene in my neck of the woods. I've moved on to Malifaux, and some of my club mates have moved on to Kings of war. I've really enjoyed Malifaux so far it's got some very nice game mechanics, and a very low cost of entry. (A crew box runs $40-50 and you'll add ...

Depending on what time you're looking for a game I might be available on UB. I get home around 3:30am here time which should be like 6:30pm your time.
*edit* except it's Friday there now, so if your plans fall through on Saturday hit me up!

Re: Universal Battle
My own experience is that movement based armies, like ours, suffer more than combat based armies. The wheel and reform tools can be hard to use. ( I'd love to see a mouse wheel wheel) The movement trays can be finicky. Characters often get left behind. All this though and I'd still be game t...

Re: Universal Battle
I use it from time to time; it's a fine substitute, but requires mental translation. The top down view takes some getting used to. All that said it's a good way to practice. I've had the opportunity to play sone of the best players in the states with out having to travel. I haven't used it to play a...

Re: Spell thieving sword or Miscast 10 - 12
I'm away from my rule books so I'm paraphraseing here, a unit of warlocks is "a lvl2 wizard" the sword effects "a wizard" same useage so same effect? But clearly he'll argue that until you're both out of breath.

Re: Spell thieving sword or Miscast 10 - 12
So the rule for warlocks is as follows, "Each time the unit casts a spell you must nominate one Master of Warlocks or Doomfire Warlock as the caster for the purposes of line of sight, range, etc." "If the unit is targeted by a rule that affects a wizard, your opponent must choose one ...

Re: Spell thieving sword or Miscast 10 - 12
I think you've got this wrong, the owner gets to choose which model is the wizard any time anything might need one. If you attack with the sword have him indicate which one counts as the wizard. If you kill that model then the sword would proc and steal a spell from the whole unit. (S)He (there are ...

Re: 2.5k Swedish List
At grail quest last year Gabe Thorn ran something similar and I believe he did well, although much of that could have been due to paint. Personally I like to run shooty avoidance and will normally try to hit the shot cap or even go a bit over. Your list looks like you're more or less depending on de...

Re: 2400 no comp tourney list refinment
Personally I find 8 to be about as few sisters as you should run a bunker with that gives to a buffer of 4 casualties before you risk characters. With wards and tokens that should be enough to keep everyone alive. If you wanted to move points for an arcane item I'd drop the scouts and bump the truef...

Re: 2400 no comp tourney list refinment
I run something similar and like this set up.
Some things to consider, you can trim some points from core, either the forbidden rod or the power scroll can give you an extra spell in a magic phase. I like a second eagle more than the wardancers but they are still a good addition.

You'll note that the FAQ is about models not units so the one great weapon helro/lord wouldn't have ASF but the EG or whatever would still have it.

Slobber, I'd vote you as Supreme Rules Lawyer. Oh no! I generally try to avoid this type of argument while in game, it takes a lot of the fun away. I just like to practice my arguments here so I can argue my point clearly and correctly if the need arises mid-tournament. With such an expansiv...

Sadly I think it's unclear if you can use even your own army book items. I'm pretty sure that isn't explicitly condoned in the end times rules.

Re: Dispel Scroll and broken concentration.
Sorry! Here's the easy breakdown, fail a dispel you can't act later in the same phase including using items. No dice, you can take actions that don't require dice such as a dispel scroll.
If anyone gives you greif just point them at this thread to wade through all the lame rules lawyering.

Re: Dispel Scroll and broken concentration.
The wording for Dispel Scroll says "[...]can read it instead of attempting to dispel the spell by using dispel dice." I think the word instead means it replaces an otherwise possible attempt. If this wizard is incapable of dispelling normaly he or she cannot replace it with a scroll as th...

Every army brought the same list, chaos same, wood elves same, high elves same, ogre kingdoms same. Not one army was different from the other. All the storm of magic creatures were the same.
