Re: AoS: WE vs Daemons of Chaos
Even with a functional 2+ save? I suppose you'd need a way to detonate the Sylvaneth Wyldwood with spells to really handle those numbers.

Re: AOS Wood Elf units, strengths/weaknesses
Don't forget, Eternal Guard in cover and using Fortress of Boughs gets to add 2 to their save and re-rolls 1s and 2s; functionally a 3+ re-rolling failed rolls without needing to cast a spell. Add the Shield of Thorns spell from the SotT and any roll of 6 or more (natural rolls of 4 with the +2) cau...

Re: AOS Wood Elf units, strengths/weaknesses
Our spell weavers can auto-dispel on top of their normal dispel. We may have the best magic defense in AoS.

Orion's Equerries?
What is the point of adding the hunting dogs for Orion? Do they provide him a Look Out Sir roll? Admittedly, an escort of S4, T4 models can be nice, but does he need them? I am considering using him in a list soon, but I don't know if it would be worth it to lose the maneuverability of a single mode...

Re: Ninth Edition - End Times for real?
I simply do not want the various armies to lose their distinctive personalities, fluff or play style. My worry is that the smaller lists will force a lot of similarities in composition and tactics.

Re: Unicorn Lone Weaver
No, I cast intentionally useless cheap spells at the beginning of my magic phases. People assume I'm tying to draw dispel dice for something scary at the end of the phase when all that I want is the tokens.
This typically only works against new opponents.

Re: Unicorn Lone Weaver
Oh I absolutely do that. I'll cast Apotheosis on myself at the top of turn 1 if I have to. Tokens are THE key to utilizing the high weaver unicorn.
After about 4 tokens you have an unkillable lord level character that may be your general. It's free CR for late game combats.

Also might be interested in characters. A couple of the units too. And the case and magic cards. I probably can't get the whole thing though.

Re: Universal Battle
It does have a random dice system, and basic tools like rulers and templates. I play fairly often against a Lizzies player. My biggest complaint is that it's extremely slow. Every movement takes about 30 seconds. Every single movement. I've had games last 4+ hours. With that said, it allows you to p...

If you use TF arrows on the shooty GL, he'll always hit on a 2+ for his regular shots, right? I don't have my book with me.

Re: Anyone have any experience with Masters/Swedish?
I usually drop my HB guard on a hill if possible. That removes cover from intervening units. I'll then drop HB scouts somewhere with either short range or a clear line of fire. That allows me to threaten any war machines that scare me first turn. If need be, I can cast Hand on my unit of HB to get t...

Anyone have any experience with Masters/Swedish?
Yes, they get comped really hard. It's to discourage the elite Mage bus. Funnily enough, Wild Riders have similar wording but the MR has to be from the Obsidian Lodestone, not just generic MR. I played a few games without sisters and decided they were worth the comp hit to me. They're a unique suppo...

Re: Anyone have any experience with Masters/Swedish?
Hello Phazael, thanks for the response. Re: BSB - I had been playing almost this exact list with a BSB with AoSS and a GW in the EG block. My problem with the BSB was two fold: much of my army was so spread out that it didn't get re-rolls; and killy characters and most other blocks were eventually a...

Re: Anyone have any experience with Masters/Swedish?
I've been looking at this thread for a couple days and I'm curious to get everyone's thoughts on my list. It comes out to a 14.3 but I've played with it several times now, against uncomped lists even, and its tougher then most people expect. The trick is that I run the Glade Lord and the UniWeaver t...

Re: Wildwood Ranger Horde
Every elf with a GW needs boosted Hand of Glory. Better WS lets you hit on threes while your opponent (maybe) hits on fives. The increased initiative prevents other elves from getting re-rolls. Helps your offense and defense.

Re: 2.5k Swedish List
Have you thought about giving some of the war dancers a spear? It allows you to drastically cut down on the unit footprint. I've had a unit of 5 break a horde of witch elves because they only did one wound after the ward save.

Re: Anyone have any experience with Masters/Swedish?
I've actually been running a Stag Lord and UniHigh Mage in my list for a couple months now. I keep them together to share MR and High tokens. I'm convinced it's the ultimate defensive build late in games.

Re: A magicless Army
To me the question becomes, what do you get instead? If you are giving up something useful, you should be able to point to where those points have been spent in the army instead. As an example, I have a friend that plays Dark Elves. He's trying a list without a lord mage but can now fit a kitted up ...

Re: Asrai with the Eternity King
If you want to avoid a special character, try a massive Sister bus. Get them up to a +5 to cast, get redundant MR in there, tooled up characters with a BSB. With ET magic that's already a Loremaster of life and beasts. Maybe one more wizard could be used if you like. On the charge you're looking at ...

Re: Yar!! Here be spoilers!!!
I would have been ok even with losing, but I don't really see a way that any of the armies can come back in recognizable form.
I always thought ET was a vehicle to move the timeline forward a couple hundred years. This looks like a complete reset of the fluff.

Re: Trouble with Brettonia
Sisters of the Thorn? Curse will really limit his ability to charge/do damage. Get him to charge war dancers in a forest. They'll be stubborn and he'll lose steadfast, then you countercharge with Wild Riders.
