Re: 9th age Woodies are out! Lets discuss!
I suppose they have the advantage that they can count ranks That's the only use I can see for them right now, as harrasers they are useless without some form of fey arrow. Sending in ten of them alongside a unit of bladedancers for instance pretty much guarantees breaking most units. At around two ...

Re: 2400 ninth age (forest ambush)
I remember that, you had two treemen right? And it was 8th edition with the 6th ed armybook? I have a few elements that can take out armour: - Pathfinders/bladedancers, if their toughness is no higher than 3, so basically elven/human knights. - Bladedancer characters; lots of attacks that hit on 2's...

Re: Ideas for a tourney army 2k points
Just a few question before I can give a response, What is elite? (special? and in that case only two, really? Or do you mean two of the same?) what does 'shooters with special rules' mean exactly? What have you played with so far? Riding models are Glade riders? In any case starting with three units...

Re: 9th age Woodies are out! Lets discuss!
Some nice things, but also some disappointing things. Things I like: -I really like the Black arrows, a throwback to the 6th ed book it seems :D. -Cheapass archers/Sentinels -No more shields for wardancers, +1S for Wardancer kindred -No more ap for Dryads, this seemed a bit much Things I don't like:...

Re: 9th age Woodies are out! Lets discuss!
I will comment my findings in more detail later, I just want to say two things really quickly: I totally agree that Bladedancers shouldn't have shields, so removing them is fine. But I do think they should have ahw instead of two attacks on their profile. This would give them I7 which is high, but n...

2400 ninth age (forest ambush)
I haven't seen many ninth age lists yet, so here is mine. It's kind of based on what I played in 7th ed and I am very glad that it can work again (I think). The idea is basically forest ambush. For those who have not read the rules; which units get the forest walker special rules is now determined a...

Re: Forest Stalker in and out question
I think this can be a good tactic, you can attack in three ranks, then you take few casualties and you're steadfast. Even if you do not take casualties you're still steadfast, This would usually only work for one round, but at that point your wild riders should hit home anyway. WWR are not stubborn,...

Re: "Age of Sigmar" speculations
You are not the first one to suggest this, but I'm very afraid you are right, at least avout the fact that it will all end up happening in the 40k universe.
The crappy latinish names are a good example of this, I had not seen it before in fantast, but 40k is full of it.

Re: "Age of Sigmar" speculations
No to both questions.
Units are minimum one model and no max, except for characters who are always one model.
Still kill single models.

Re: "Age of Sigmar" speculations
Citaat OK, a tiny bit more info about the new Age of Sigmar box, we now know it is £75 retail (comes with the 47 figures that have already been spoiled on 'interwebs as well as rulebook and the usual accessories). If you place a £10 deposit by the 4th of July you get it for £67.50, which goes down ...

Re: The Glade Anvil
It's not a thousand points. You're spending 25% core anyway. They're better in the woods anyway. And you're buying a lvl4 and putting him in the woods anyway (for the +1). And you're getting a BSB anyway. It's just std disciple and crown of command that's extra. That's about 50pts to turn your arch...

Re: The Glade Anvil
I don't think so, if the enemy charges he can choose who to contact, this will always be against the bsb if your opponent is smart and wants to break you in one turn (which very often he will not want to do).
Also if he is not in base contact in the first round, why should he be in the second?

Re: The Glade Anvil
Why not just do this with wardancers and put your glade guard safely behind them? I use a unit of five and it works wonders, ten would work even better I think, but is too big for my taste. It might work for you though. With a potential 3++ they are very survivable and are stubborn in a forest, so n...

Re: Arcane Unforging
The way I've been playing the warmachine unforging thing is as follows: Before the battle I discuss it with my opponent. I ask him if he agrees it is a magic item, if so, I can unforge it (which I tell him). If he insists before or after I tell him that, that it is in fact not a magic item, I tell h...

Re: Common Tactics Deployment or Otherwise
Another way to do this is to use an actual anvil. I mainly use wardancer for this, but it only works in a forest. You either deploy your guys 1 wide and five deep with the champion in front, insuring that he can only kill the champion, or go 3++. You only need one guy to survive since they are stubb...

Re: Hagbane or Trueflight?
I would argue that warmachines are actually easier to shoot with trueflight than hagbane. Experienced players will stack negative modifiers. Since warmachines usually have a very long range and don't need much line of sight if at all, it is fairly easy to accomplish this. Putting them beyond 30"...

Re: How does one beat Everqueen?
I have found that most high elf players don't know this part of the rule, probably because there is not that much magical shooting around.
That goes for swordmasters as well.

Re: Hagbane or Trueflight?
There are no guaranteed sixes to hit though, I've had entire shooting phases where I rolled none. That is one of the problems with hagbane, you are relying too much on mathhammer, if you have a phase where you roll no or almost no sixes, you're screwed. Trueflight is much more reliable. Of course th...
