Re: [5th Edition] Beating Chaos Knights?

Galadrin, I can't find the magic item cards from then and I can't find the BRB so I can't be of much help there, but at first glance, the following is what I would have in a list and the reasons why, if I were going to play a 2000 point game of 5th ed. Forest/woods: Be sure to have enough of them on...

2500 pt WE army

This is a combat orientated list with No Wild Riders, No Sisters o/t Thorn, and No Waywatchers. I believe I'm at exactly 2499 points. Obviously this isn't a competitive list. I think it simply would be fun and a bit of a surprise. I was thinking of choosing High Magic for Walk Between Worlds. With a...

Re: [5th Edition] Beating Chaos Knights?

Galadrin, what is the copyright year of the BRB that you are using and the copyright year of the Wood Elf army book that you are using?
I think I can help once I have this information.

Re: rule q: wyldwoods

If you are about to play a game and the local AoS community doesn't have a ruling about it, then it's up to you to use good judgement on the amount that you place. Yes, covering the table with them would be crass, but you don't want to use too few either. On a 4x4 table, I would be content with thre...

Re: Games Workshop Store:

If GW wants to get rid of warhammer,.. Well, for them, they have gotten rid of WHFB. They've stopped producing the books. But they can't stop people from playing WHFB and they wouldn't even try stop anyone from doing so. it makes sense for them to push for round bases. If all your models have round...

RubyTuesday, yea, go ahead and dip into your beer money for one. With it you will have an exact template for other woods that you may need. And just like the old days of vinyl recordings, you can keep the original safe and just use your copies. I struggled with the same question for a few years, buy...

Re: Age of Sigmar SDK

That seems like, in some circumstances, it would essentially come down to who wins the roll off for tiebreaker list. I see what you mean in the case of a grossly mismatched game. In that case, if an army list wins twice then the owner of that list has a -1 modifier for the die roll. If the list is ...

Re: Age of Sigmar SDK

I found this suggestion on another fan site. So far, this is the suggestion I like best for balancing an AoS game. Play "best of 3". The games go quickly enough. First game - use your own lists. Second game, switch lists (the scrolls are simple enough to make this easy). If you have to pla...

Re: Games Workshop Store:

I'm no longer aghast about GW prices. People keep trying to convince me to play Warmachine/Hordes because they say it's cheaper. I just checked Privateer Press website. The price for their starter sets are $50 each. Each starter set has from three to five models.

Re: Games Workshop Store:

I came down with acute sticker shock when I saw the price of the Stormcast Eternals Lord-Castellant model at the FLGS. I cannot fathom why two models in a small blister pack averages $20 each. Maybe all of the new GW models are all short run productions. That wouldn't make sense unless they don't pl...

Re: AoS Point Cost Algorithm!

Not interested in an algorithm, nor using wounds, nor hero limits, none of it. Even as good as your algorithm is, I think it will enable min/max lists, which is the reason that so many models become dust catchers. The debate over AoS lack of balance by not having a point system has highlighted just ...

...(I refuse to call I warhammer) And rightfully so because it is not Warhammer. AoS simply has the branding "Warhammer" printed on the box. Same as Hasbro's game Guadalcanal and their other WWII board games that are stamped "Axis & Allies". Good news for us is that we can c...

Sidewinder: I understand you.. but it's now very hard to see if the armies are balanced even if you try. I agree with this only because I've played point based games for some time. My first point based game was StarFleet Battles that I played decades ago; then came MIcroArmor, followed by BattleTec...

Re: Heads Exploding! Age of Sigmar Rules Released Online

*Unbelievable, un-freaking-believable. GW designs a game to produce fun, casual, "beer and pretzel" games for the living room, basement, or wherever. A game that, before it starts both sides can agree on what their going to play, the terrain they are going to use, etc. They've already deci...

Re: Best 3/Worst 3 units Redux

Was this meant to be about 8th or about AoS? The question is for Warhammer Fantasy, not Age of Sigmar. I felt the question makes a good bookend because I originally asked it when the current but last to be published WE army book was first released. I wanted to know if opinions had changed since the...

Re: Forest Stalker in and out question

I wasn't commenting specifically on Sun's list, it's just his list that gave me the thought about this situation if it would ever occur. As far as the question goes, it doesn't need to be WWR specifically, it applies to any Forest Stalker unit that doesn't have stubborn. I was puzzled about the WWR ...

Using eagles to redirect is simple enough, but, yes, using eagles can be tricky. I still make too many mistakes and miss great opportunities with eagles. Yes, Sisters o/t Thorns can be used with eagles especially since both have great mobility. Sisters can be used as hard cover for an eagle's charge...

How important is terrain in your games?

Do you spend much time choosing and setting terrain pieces on the board?
Do you use the terrain generator in the book or do you and your opponent simply chose pieces to use?
What other important terrain questions am I forgetting to ask?

Forest Stalker in and out question

I read Sunstrider's post about using WWR with the Abyssal Forest under this topic. http://asrai.org/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=28700&start=50 It brings to mind an interesting question, though I doubt this situation would ever occur. A 5 x 6 unit consisting of 30 Wildwood Rangers has three of its r...
