Re: 9th Age
9th Age Beta is here! Hi guys, As Army Support for the Elves from the forest, or Sylvan Elves (9th Age name), my duty is to spread the word to our co-responding communities. So, without any further words, I'm presenting you Beta Version of 9th Age and Sylvan Elves. As a disclaimer I'm copying to yo...

Re: Any more Asrai left in these woods?
I can't imagine 9th Age will ever be more than a really niche thing. The rules seem fine, but with the lack of influx of new players over time, all that I can see is a continually dwindling fan base.

So what forums do you post on now instead of Asrai FTE? Not really posting a lot of forums now. I check out the Mantic forums a little. Getting most of my gaming social media fix via Twitter and Facebook. I'm a big fan of twitter for wargaming networking. Handle is @friedtaterexplo if anyone wants ...

I'd like to get a discussion started regarding this.

Eternal Guard Fortess of Boughs
The rule states that you get +1 to hit/wound/armor saves as long as you don't move. My question, does this apply to the "pile in?" The text states that during the combat phase you can make "a pile in move ." I'm guessing you can't. though... as pile in occurs immediately before a...

Re: Wild Riders
Putting the 2nd rank in a new unit that can 1. charge the same target and get the charge bonus for all attacks 2. charge another target if needed 3. charge the same unit in the flank if still pinned by the first unit That makes loosing a few attacks not as bad as you portray it. Good points. I thin...

Re: Wild Riders
How would you use a largish unit of wild riders? You do lose attacks from the second rank. Do the extra wounds help? I'd rather have two redundant riders (only contributing a couple extra attacks) than be missing the potential attacks because I lost two or three WRs from BS shooting or a magic miss...

Re: Wild Riders
I've been playing a lot of ETC hammer lately, and have found a single unit of 10 (with champ and banner of swiftness) is a fantastic hammer. Definitely a lot of utility in taking MSU Wild Riders, but the more that I play with this book, the more that I find one largish unit of Wild Riders to really ...

Re: Anyone have any experience with Masters/Swedish?
Sisters have been working extremely well for me, from a points preservation perspective as well. If I play them half-way intelligently, with characters in them, there is a block of points that my opponenet will have a huge hassle trying to claim. As for Swedish... I think they are one of the things ...

Re: Anyone have any experience with Masters/Swedish?
Just want to say, I ran a spellweaver on unicorn with HIgh magic in the recent UPGT and she was the only model in my army that did not die once in all 5 games. Never got more than 2 wound counters on her at any given time, but that was really all she ever needed. 4 out of 5 games, there were 2 or m...

Anthony? For Keystone? I like the Metal Mage. Gives a good second armor threat. I'd personally be scared to run 40 of the Wildwood Rangers. Will the BSB be in there? He'd be fairly squishy on foot. I'd recommend keeping him in the Sisters bunker and put them near enough the WWRs for rerolls. M...

Re: 2015 U.S. Master's Wood Elf Army Lists
I recently played with a Swedish list at Onslaught. It really changes things up.
All of the Masters lists look solid. I like your inclusion of the Metal mage, Rhuell. Are the branch wraiths primarily to try to get Dwellers and also as redirectors?

Re: Hagbane or Trueflight?
Of course it's nice to pick targets.. and all things being equal I'd prefer that too.. but since hagbane's do more to WAY MORE damage it can be nice to factor in raw damage too. Agreed. I think the trick is to find the right ratio of Trueflight/Hagbanes for your own individual army build and play s...

Re: Hagbane or Trueflight?
I mainly play with trueflight arrows, at least on glade guard. My reasoning is: Trueflight does okay against high toughness, although not as well as hagbane. Hagbane does awfully against stacked modifiers, much worse than trueflight. By taking trueflight i feel that i get the best of both worlds. I...

Re: Hagbane or Trueflight?
I spam mostly True Flight now. However, when I first started playing with the new army book, I tried hagbane alone, and a mix of Hagbane and True Flight. Wasn't ever satisfied with those builds. The thing about Mathhammer is that ideal shooting conditions are the exception rather than the rule. My o...
