Re: New Treeman Model?

I am one of the few who like the new treeman...There is so much more detail in them and I find them more interesting to look at... Oh I definitely like the sculpt too, definitely, just not as a treeman for Warhammer Wood Elves. As far as the detail and patterning and textures and bits and doodads a...

Re: New Treeman Model?

...I like the elegance of it... See, to me, that's just the thing though. A. Dryads are schmecksy and elegant, Treeman are always described as terrifying and monstrous and old and twisted and... Ya know, shredding things and mashing things and eating things whole, and...that. B. (And more Important...

Re: New Treeman Model?

Yeah, don't get me wrong, the actual models are gorgeous, and it looks like there is at least ONE configuration with no weapons. To me, they just look nothing like the treemen have ever looked or been described, more like some kind of American Super-Hero "Da da da daaaah, it's, Tree Man!,"...

New Treeman Model?

I was definitely not a fan of the last Treeman, personally, but these guys... I just don't know. They remind me more of that Lego Technic super-robot type stuff from back in the day. Definitely more man than tree, and the Ancient has a magical staff? Durthu gets a flaming sword??? Maybe in the new l...

Oh wow, fantastic. Great model, especially for 28mm. When I saw the guitar in the first pic, I was kinda going "huh???", but you've done a pretty seemless conversion, it's gotta be said!

I've gotta say, the spellweaver caught me aback, very well done, BUT, the glad riders at the end are incredibly crisp, and nearly blew her completely out of the water. Excellent job. Post more, post more!

Re: Dremel advice: pinning?

I find something like THIS to be the safest. Used to work in a fine-art frame shop, and we used these guys for all sorts of delicate, teeny tiny joins that would NOT like any power drill anywhere near them. Dremel, Husky, Black & Decker or whatever brand. Take a while, but precision and control ...

Re: Zack's Crafting Schtuff (Treeman Complete!)

...Where's the Tree's main body ?..It's more "Stick"-Man than "Tree"-Man. Hmmm, I might have to create an alternate stumpy-fat body too, magnetize the parts, and then I can swap them out! Ok, that sounds a bit extreme, but I do plan on having a second treeman eventually, so mayb...

Re: Experiences with non-GW paints?

Now if you got an army of knights in shiny armor with shiny weapons then you got a problem. Honestly, I thought they went pretty far with my first Army, High Elves. So far, my Brets are looking decent too. Again, depends on the cheap paints too, and what they were intended for. Anything aimed for p...

Re: Experiences with non-GW paints?

Well, I guess I'l be the dissident, and say that I actually like cheap, 79 cent paints. I don't tend to have issues with texture, with most brands. (assuming you're not buying paints intended for wood, or fabric, or somesuch, 'cause that definitely is texture fail) Then again, I do tend to like soft...

Re: New Asrai here - Orion takes over a elf?

First, a disclaimer: I have read exactly 0 Warhammer novels ever. That said, I have to admit that I greatly prefer the Wood Elves as relatively peaceful unless provoked, the remnants of the most cultured and structured Warhammer Society (I think?), but with a back-to-basics, one-with-nature hippy/hu...

Re: redirecting with dryads, etc.

He's talking about how large of an attacking unit can be blocked by a blocking unit of a certain size to prevent your target unit from being charged or over run. I think... Riiiight, but doesn't that depend greatly on the exact distances, positioning, and angles of each of the three units in relati...

Re: new dwarves

Well, as I understand it initiative is the measure of speed, so if we have higher I then we're still faster. Having more attacks just means they're angrier. :p Yeah, but it still means that they can swing their big heavy Sledges twice as many times as an Elf is capable of whipping around a small, f...

Stiiiiiill lost. But that's ok. My play group is pretty dang non-competitive. (And super far away, now... :tear: )

I've been playing with models, but I just don't get it. What I'm lost on is this, what exactly are the different frontages requirements intended to cause/prevent?

You actually like fast moving ST 3 templates heading for your GG? No, not really. Just other people's units... :D Regarding Gyrocopter bs Mechanical Horse, I'd say the Mechanical horse, disturbingly, wins the realism contest by a mile. It is concievably possible to design a robotic horse; there are...
