Re: Banner of Eternal Flames??

Also remember you only need to inflict one wound from the flames to take out the regen for the entire shooting phase. So as long at that unit causes a wound and is done first, then essentially all your shooting in that phase are as good as flaming against regen

Re: 2000 Game vs Beastmen

liesmith, thanks for this, very useful. Looks like I will need as many arrows as I can. Makes me wonder if i should drop the treeman for more GG, hmmm. Though if they have low leadership perhaps terror will be even better.

Re: I need some help

I would go with a Lv4 with beasts and a BSB with HoDA and the 10 point bow. other than that the rest would be troops. If you have any point left go with a noble on a great eagle to go machine hunting.

Thanks for the tips Bill.

Just one more thing I have not brought the BoEF, am I right in thinking beastmen don't have any regen?

Re: I need some help

I usually have about 3 10-elf units of glade guard and 2-3 units of 8 Dryads at 2000 points. Glade Riders can possibly work well, but I have not managed to do that. My best tip will be to finish the last 16 glade guard and double your Dryads. For a start. And you need a mage and two eagles. Go chec...

Re: My army begins!

You can take eagle in a unit of 1. So that's actually a 50 point eagle vs a 120 point unit of warhawks. That's not even a contest! yeap you need eagles, especially if you want lots of shooting as you'll need to delay them to get more shots in. Noble Asyendi's Bane, HoDA, extra HW 10 GG 15 GG 8 Drya...

Re: Restarting wood elves 1500

First off welcome back to the world of wood elves. They are great honest  Looking at what you currently have and what you need my first suggestion would be Glare Guard. I think nearly every wood elf army would have them. The only times you would not would be either all forest spirts, or full ca...

2000 Game vs Beastmen

I have a game coming up this weekend against beastmen and I’m thinking of using the below list. This is similar to my usual one, except I have added a treeman in place of my normal WW and machine gun hb. I have also added more GG and dropped my wardancers. The plan is to end up in on quarter with mo...

Re: Usual BSB vs 10 Glade Gaurd

Frogboy, I had this very problem a few weeks ago. http://asrai.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=23798 Unfortunately I’m still not sure either way. The HoDA as mentioned does give you plenty of St4 shots which should be hitting on 2’s in the first turn, which I find very useful. However after that you hav...

Re: Salamanders and Chameleon skinks

Tom/Bogi, thanks for the tips. Looks like I’ll be painting up that 3rd unit of dryads before the weekend as they look like they could be the answer to both problems. We all know how to deal with large infantry blocks since Wood Elves have been doing it for ages and they dont cause us much trouble an...

Re: Pet Peeve: WSvWS

Totally agree with the above. I get annoyed when WS3 hits WS6 on 4’s. They are twice as bad but still 50% chance of hitting. I’m guessing it is worse as we have high WS compared to armies with worse

Salamanders and Chameleon skinks

There is a LM player at our local club who I have played a few times and have another game against this week. I’m not too worried by his blocks of infantry and I can just accept that the fat frog will cause issues in the magic phase. However what really gets me and I just can’t seem to cope with are...

Re: Game against Druchii

Well after a week’s delay we finally got the game completed over the weekend. He was an experienced player and knew the best way to beat me was to get in to combat asap. He however did not bring the strongest DE’s as he said he was against cheese lists, so no unkillable peg characters. His list was ...

Slightly off-topic but does this mean that HoDA would not be flaming if in a unit with BoEF?

Yes, this is a definate if he is going to be bringing Hexwraiths. Even an average roll of 10.5 shots should do enough to wipe out a unit of 5 Hex.

Re: Glade Riders : Good or Bad?

For this wildriders are better. Glade riders aren't good in close combat. They're perfect for preventing the enemy from marching, annoying your opponent, killing enemy warmachines, killing small units (5-10 models), redirecting charges. The only issue with this is that WR can’t flee due to ITP and ...

I think one of the reasons I have had less impressive results with it is because I have been using it at st3 not 4. Need to go back and re-re-re-re-read the rules, again. Thanks for all the advice as always.

Re: Glade Riders : Good or Bad?

Unfortunately, as with many WE units, you really need to be wiping out units to prevent any attacks back. With low T and only a 6+ save they are going to fall to most attacks. The only time I have found them useful in combat is if you have a skirmishing unit in combat with a unit with a full rank. A...

Re: Glade Riders : Good or Bad?

I really like them, both the models and the rules on them, and so try to fit them in to my lists. HOWEVER the more I play the more I struggle to justify the points cost for them. I to use effectively you really need at least two units of 5 (double flee) which would be the same cost as 20 GG. That to...

Hail of Doom Arrow.

Is it really worth it? I have a list for the weekend with 3 characters, MG HB, Beastweaver and Noble on GE, non of which have space for HoDA. Re: Holy cow, wardancers!

Also I have found there arn't that many units with a character worth killing that are more than either 5 wide or 5 deep. Therefore if you have 7 WD you should be able to either charge the front of units with 6 or less in the front. Units with more than 6 in the front rank, charge the flank.

Re: Game against Druchii

Thanks for the comments. What lores did they bring? Reason I asked was that I looked at the available ones and they don’t look like they would cause that much pain other than Dark. I know they can get extra dice from magic items etc but they only work if the spells are going to really hurt me. Or am...
