Re: How to beat a horde without magic?
it somewhat depends on what the unit is, but there is of course the obvious answer of throwing a treeman at it, letting him get stuck in and then flank with something, your treeman is likely not going to win combat (though with good rolls it is possible) but with stubborn he's not likely to break ei...

Re: Stand and Shoot vs failed charge
So first my opponent declares all charges. After this i can roll my stand and shoot in any order i want. Then resolve panic tests, if there are any. And finally, my opponent rolls the charge distances of each charging unit. Am I right? no, your opponant declares one charge, you announce and resolve...

Re: Wood Elf Item - Divination Orb
the item only works against powerdice that are thrown at the spell. in the case of the heirotitan and night goblin magic mushrooms these are a bonus to cast the spell, but are not powerdice, as such the extra dice from the mushroom can not cause IF, but it also does not trigger the orb. however agai...

Re: 2000 Versus Beastmen
just noticed your level 2 has 2 arcane items, i would sugest dropping the divination orb and keeping the scroll. as for how your chances are it's hard to say without knowing a thing about your oponants beastmen army if you are able to take out his fast elements early and cause panic tests in his tro...

your list isn't actually legal, as you can not have more units of scouts then you do glade guard, meaning to have 4 units of scouts you will need to take 2 more units of glade guard

Re: I'd like some opinions.
Shadow is the best of the BRB lores, and if a beastman general feels he cant get by without a couple MM's than there are ruby ring and the staff. Actually I'd say Lore of Beasts is. Shadow doesn't have a MM and Pit scatters. Beasts also compliments Beastmen more. Beastmen characters are already pre...

Re: Is a BSB needed?
while a BSB is nice, I don't think needed is the right word to use, most of the army is immune to psychology, so unless your really afraid of your archers failing a panic or fear test (typically if mine are in combat they will die anyway) I've found that wood elves take far fewer leadership tests th...

Re: treeman ancient, worth it?
Stone Thrower only have a 1 in 6 chance to drop the button on you. Actually, it's 1 in 3, there are 2 targets on the scatter die. However, I suppose if you want to get technical 1 in 6 of those 1 in 3 will misfire, but I'm too lazy to do the maths to tell you what the odds of a hit without a misfir...

Re: WE Popularity Vs. HE Popularity
I don't think it's so much that the wood elves are unpopular, it's more or less a perceived demand for an update. It seems that the dark elf players tend to scream bloody murder if they think that their list is anywhere near not being top tier in terms of competitiveness, so much so that they got an...

you can still cast direct damage spells, provided that the target still satisfies all the necessary requirements, which includes being in the front arc of the mage and not being engaged in close combat

Re: Forest strider and Mysterious Forests
the forest strider rules means no unit ever has to take dangerous terrain tests for moving into or through woods, this means you don't suffer the penalty from the venom thicket, however the wildwood still attacks models which are in the wood regardless of the strider rules, and the blood forest will...

Re: I'd like some opinions.
Beastmen have arguably one of the strongest magic phases (Jagged Dagger and Shard of the Herdstone allow for a gross amount of Power dice to be thrown in a phase) this is true, however due to their lore restrictions they don't have access to a lot of good pew pew spells, they are limited to shadow,...

Re: I'd like some opinions.
in terms of beastmen their shooting is limited to ungor raiders which are a skirmishing unit with short bows, normally they need 6's to hit so the units are really more of an annoyance tactic then a viable shooting unit for artillery they have the rather expensive cygor, which is a monster that acts...

Re: Help vs Chosen
I don't believe the wailing banner wouldn't help any, it's FAQed that if you are already stupid from the helm of many eyes and you roll stupidity on the chart the roll stands but has no real effect (subsiquent rolls would be rerolled though) it stands to reason that the same would hold true for terr...

How do you get them to 3+ on the Ward Save? Army Builder has them at 3+ Armor Save (shooting) and 4+ in Close Combat along with a 6+ Ward Save. chosen get a roll on the eye of the gods at the beginning of the game, you can give the champ an item to move the result one direction or another on the ta...

Re: Change to Power Scroll
not true, someone throwing 6 dice at purple sun only have a about a 26% chance of IR and only a 37% chance of casting at all. The old power scroll bumps that chance up to 90% basically turning a 1 chance gamble into a 1 chance sure thing mind you, i really only find this broken with VC due to their ...

anybody who doesn't think that the old power scroll was overpowered never ran into a VC player taking a level 1 mage with forbidden lore and the scroll, only to see him run out on the first turn and cast purple sun against a low innititive army, not only does he end up wiping out half the opposing a...

Re: Life or beasts?
I disagree with you about the usefulness of flock of doom, i think more or less the issue is with your choice of targets, the good think about flock is the number of hits it deals, so it's good for targeting things like warmachines or monsters with low saves, sure you need sixes to wound, but wounds...

Re: The Tomb Kings Problem (Necrosphinx/Warsphinx)
Alters have leadership 9, but if the sphinx has 2 to 3 wounds left it wnt matter since you will probably kill it anyway. I killed a sphinx in one turn of shooting (turn 2) during a tournament by focusing about 50 ranged attacks on it. I did get lucky though. He had a second sphinx that took me the ...
